    There was a New Year's Eve show on in the afternoon Pacific Time sponsored by Авторадио on Channel 1. The audience is huge and it is interesting because they are very active with continual camera changes, zooms, tilts, etc. Very different from shows in the West.

    Haha, except they NEVER sing live! Playback is the Russian way of doing things in music, even in regular concerts. Eurovision is the only time you ever see a Russian sing live (and it's usually quite terrible).

    I really, really wish I could've stayed in Russia for the New Year while I was there in 2006. Unfortunately I couldn't extend my visa, so I came back to the US on Christmas Eve.
