Of course he says it's a choice. For closeted bisexuals like himself, it is.

    Brilliant man.

I don't totally agree with everything he says, but if he's the candidate, I absolutely will vote for him.

So what orientation have you decided to be today? Are you just here as a straight visitor this morning, or as a gay man?

The nice thing about choice is that you get to change it as you like. A possible down side is that it means, to Republicans, that being gay isn't an inalienable right under the US Constitution, so you have no civil rights or protections of your sexuality. You can be fired for it, evicted, harassed and denied protections under hate crimes laws.

Yep, brilliant man that Gingrich, let's us really-not-gays-after-all vote for him.

lol, Art he just said he didn't agree with everything Gingrich said. icon_wink.gif

    PS freedomisntfree is gay.

I think for Gingrich it's a choice, and so someone should ask him how he went about choosing to be straight, lol. I wonder what he didn't like about being gay?
He couldn't get a date perhaps?

Art honey, you gotta cut this crap! What were you for the first 46 years of your life? But really, I've had with you over this 'right wing plant' shit.

I said nothing about you being a plant. Rather, I was pointing out the consequence of Gingrich's statement. If gay is a choice, then I guess we get to chose it every day like our wardrobe, gay one moment, straight the next. I was using sarcasm with you, dear.

As for my early life, I was always gay. Even my parents knew it. The only one who didn't know was me, being in deep denial and confusion about what constituted a gay man.

And no matter what Gingrich says on some topics (and actually I find about 95% of his statements nutty anyway), his homophobia oughta make him unacceptable to any gay voter. Reminds of the apologists from 70 years ago, who enthused that Mussolini made the trains runs on time, and Hitler built the autobahns. There are certain issues that transcend others, and cherry-picking just the good stuff is not a way to judge politicians who would be setting our entire national agenda.

"I said nothing about you being a plant"

However, you have many times before. And another correction, I'm an American voter. Enough of the hyphens.

But Art, we've been through this hundreds of times. I vote for the total package regarding what I feel is in the best long term interests of the country. NO, you don't need to go where you're about to go. I've heard it thousands of times.

My list of priorities is slightly different than yours. Yes, yes I understand, but my list is still different. It’s not that I’m not concerned, but just that there are other issues that I’m more concerned about at this point in time. Again Art, I understand, but I accept where you’re coming from and you’ll have to do the same with me or block my posts. Kinda like agree to disagree a bit.

And yes, Newt when he starts his grandiose theorizing says thing that can easily be taken out of context in a 30 second prime time news sound bites. My real complaint/concern about him is his organizational skills. I think Mitt would be a better manager.

So, since you and I are about the same age, I feel that I can say this. I came out in June 1970 when the battles were really difficult, so where were you when we could have used your help? That was but ONE year after Stonewall.

And I did what I could do from inside the Republican Party. Obviously, I'm not saying that I changed everyone's mind, but I did plenty. And I’m somewhat effective because I respect other points of view, usually based on religion, but so be it. That's what they believe. I respect that. These changes take time and I’ve put 41 years and six months into it. You?

Quit making excuses for Gingrich whose stand against the Gays is to get votes and monetary support from the far right, which support in the end coinsides with the Israeli Lobby support for more war. Newt is bad news from every conceivable angle let alone gay issues.

gingrich and his opinions are a pile of shit which only serve to oppress gays. Sure it´s not exactly the same as blacks in the 60s... but there are substantial similarities... Using the differences to deny that is sophistry. Typical right wing light weight posing as an "intellectual".

Well you know our half brothers the bisexuals have to take the blame for this confusion, a confusion that is apart of many of their lives, that is passed on to others. They live as straight people, take a wife or two or three, breed with these women, receive all the rewards as straight married men. Then when they hit middle age, they no longer need the wife for the advancement in life, or the military; decide it's time they now have love after depriving everone in their life of it; wife and children. Now they want a boyfriend, and too be seen as gay and not straight anymore. Any Wonder there are people out there who rightly feel from what they have seen, that sexuality is a bloody choice.

But I being a Gold Card Gay, a Bona Fide homosexual, have never had the choices or rewards of beging a bisexual, or swing from a wife to a man; the confusion it creates for others, thus we must understand that many may come to belive sexuality is in fact a choice. Albeit for me as a poofter, there has never ever been any choice to take a wife and too breed.

Yet there are those of you who want to attack the people who say; Oh sexuality is a choice, over looking all the bloody damage bisexuals do to us gays; yes we pay for their sins.

Bi is not either gay or straight; bi is bi and straight is just that and so is gay!

That's not always bisexuals though. Many times gay men will try to live as heterosexuals. They are able to perform, but that doesn't mean they are attracted to women or their wife. Someone can masturbate too and that doesn't mean they are attracted to their hand or themselves.

starting at 5:08 "I believe it is a combination of genetics and environment...people have a significant range of choice within a genetic pattern...I don't believe in genetic determinism (sic**)...there are propensities...are you more likely to do this...people have many choices within genetic patterns..."~~Gingrich

Essentially, he's saying that being genetically gay is like having a genetic predisposition to develop disease. You have the genetics for cancer, but if you eat right maybe you won't get it.

    This guy is garbage.

"the belief that genes, along with environmental conditions, determine morphological and behavioral phenotypes. The term is sometimes mistakenly applied to the unscientific belief that genes determine, to the exclusion of environmental influence, how an organism turns out."

So, pretty much the opposite definition of how Gangrene uses the term when he pretends to sound like he knows what he's talking about.

    Particularly curious considering that...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supplemental_Nutrition_Assistance_Program
(2010 stats) 35% of participants are white; 22% are African-American, not Hispanic; 10% are Hispanic; 2% are Asian, 4% are Native American, and 19% are of unknown race or ethnicity

For more SNAP stats see http://www.fns.usda.gov/pd/snapmain.htm
