Being a 90s child who only got to see the eighties through media portrayal, can't say I'm sad to have missed that decade.

In terms of entertainment, yes. I'm fond of many '80s films, music, and TV programs; many of which I grew up with.

However, the '80s still presented many hardships: Cold War, Afghanistan, AIDS, civil wars in Central America, terrible fashion, et al. Also, the world's first legal same-sex union didn't appear until 1989 in Denmark.

Makes me wonder how I'm gonna look back upon my generation in thirty years (provided I make it that far). icon_confused.gificon_neutral.gif

What do I miss about the 80's? Some great things happened to me, and a couple of bad ones too - - - - but mostly very good:

    * Had a great marketing job at Hewlett-Packard, which was like the Bentley of companies then (at least we who were employees thought so).

    * Got recruited to an even better job at Syntex (pharmaceutical company in Palo Alto - now Roche).

    * Bought my first three houses in the '80's for a fraction of what they're worth now.

    * Was in my prime living minutes from my college campus - able to take part in a lot of activities with alums.

    * Had a couple of good relationships during the '80's and all in all, life was terrific. I wouldn't want to go back though, because I'm happier now - thanks to the man in my life. Now if I could take HIM back to the '80's with me, I think that would be fun. Why couldn't I have met him back then??

We both miss the new romantics and new wave.

We both miss the hundreds and hundreds of friends and acquaintances that died rather horribly and shunned equally horribly by so many.

Desperately. Cheesy new wave pop is my fave.

It may be one of the worst songs ever recorded, but this is my happy song.

I know I am very ashamed of myself... lol

Actually, Rock Lobster on their first album was 1979. I still love that album. Great road music to wake me up when I'm getting sleepy

The 80s had some good music, now! I kind of miss them, for we who can remember them did learn some valuable life lessons in that period.

I have virtually everything that was anything from the 80s on vinyl and as often as possible on higher quality imports or colored vinyl (easy Doom) plus 2nd and 3rd copies that have never been opened. I didn’t as much care for much of the 70s, but the 60s and 80s – I love it.

Who remembers Pocket Pool by Killer Pussy? Circa 1984 or 85 I think.

Better yet, who has a 'custom stick'?

The badness of the 80s I recall was the Gay Plague Era, and gay and bisexual men recklessly going around giving other brothers a slow humiliating deaths. But then in the 80s you must of been in hiding and not supporting the gay community, because if you were there you would remember more than bloody wind in you hair. The 80s for out gay men were full of fear, death, abuse advancement going backwards; young men being killed by older men with a slow humiliating deaths; yer right lets all o back to the 1980's there is an education there that so many of you miss out on.

Oh but this is apart of OUR History that we want too die with time ans so many lost young men.
