I just turned 23 about 9 minutes ago and I thought to post a question. What happened when you were 23? Anything special or memorable?

Oh yeah. No one likes you when you're 23...

Just kidding. I currently am 23. Outlook is pretty good for me! Not quite mid twenties... 30 is still a ways away... just focus on building who you are and possibly falling in love along the way.

When I turned 23, I was just hired for a position which utilized my degree (Computer Science) to its full potential. Granted it was not my "dream job", but it was the beginning in working my way up the career ladder, building my reputation, and making friends that will last a life time. I worked there for 7 1/2 years and my time there was the foundation of where I am today. I didn't realize it at the time, but I "grew up" there.

I so thought of this song, too, when I saw this thread! Bad ass!

Let's see, I was 23 during the end of 2008 and most of 2009. Unfortunately I made quite a few bad decisions at that time. In fact, I'm still sort of paying the consequences of those decisions, heh. But live and learn, eh? They were a growing experience for sure.

During most of that year I actually felt love for the first time. I was in a serious relationship with a guy for about 9 months, and he was the first to give me any sense of possibly having a future with somebody. It was a wonderful feeling to love him and have him love me in return. Sadly, we had conflicting goals and were living a considerable distance from each other, which eventually led us to break up. I must admit it was exceptionally hard to get over him. It took quite a bit of time, but at least I no longer feel sad thinking about it.

Happy birthday. I still have eight months and some change to 23. I imagine it'll be more or less the same as 22. icon_biggrin.gif

I was 23 a few days back so I have it fresh in my memory. For me 23 is one of the most emotional and humbling years in my life. Emotional because my relationship with boyfriend went deeper and into a more meaningful state. Humbling because I struggled with my career.

I think I was working in an Irish bar... learning how to make Irish breakfasts, Irish stews, Irish Shamrocks on de Guiness (very corny, but de foreign tourists love dem), Irish coffees, .. learning how to speak Irish and drink Irish (my record is 17 drinks and no hangover), learning about rugby, hurling and cricket... and generally turning into a leprechaun...

Happy Birthday dude and well for me... I think that's the year when I had my first boyfriend and that boyfriend became an ex. I had one of my "best" friends for a class that year, but I didn't meet him until a year and a half later.

Typical boring stuff. When I was 23 I spent several months in Israel working both for and with Arabs and Israelis and frankly with neither money, connections nor sexual congress my youth, beauty, openmindedness and propensity for surrounding myself with people who were not likeminded gave me entry everywhere, from the camps to the finest homes in both the Arab and Jewish quarters of Jerusalem's Old City. On a typical Friday night I'd be at a shabbos dinner in a penthouse overlooking the golden Dome of the Rock watching Arabs stream in response to the Call to Prayer beneath a darkening purple sky across the restored green parklike grounds of the Temple Mount as Jews prayed beneath them at the Wailing Wall, then I'd hang at the plaza in front of the Wall with my Muslim buddy, a Teen Mr. Jordan competitor with the most luscious brows, lips and build, because he'd tapped it as a great place to pick up Jewish chicks while listening to European Christian pilgrims freely criticizing the spectacle before them.

All my young friends turned 21 and we were drunk all the time like if I turned 21 again. honestly, it was a messy year. not very productive. 24 was like WTF do I have to show for my life. 25 finally felt like a had a plan and a man then my ex turned 23 and ditched me for the same kind of life style I mentioned happened to me... haven't talked to him since. ... see a patern? Enjoy it but try to control the 21 Effect.

Edit: I feel like a dick for not saying it in my post. slipped my mind between the dog barking and mom needing something... ugh FUCK mornings for real!...

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY! icon_razz.gif

That was the year I became a man!!!

Actually I don't think anything all that memorable happened. I was out of college, looking for work, not in the best shape...I'm a lot better off now actually.

At 23, I got into my first(and only) relationship, without ever really dating around. Word to the wise(and those with common sense): DATE, DATE, AND DATE SOME MORE!!icon_lol.gif

Nope, my accent became so similar.. even English ppl would ask me if I was Irish !

EDit: but I see my spelling is atrocious.. I meant to write "It was grand, yeah.... had a good craic!!" ....... "a good crack" is something entirely different.. I tink my little leprechaun trew me off icon_redface.gificon_rolleyes.gif

    Happy birthday.

A lot of momentous things happened when I was 23. I turned 23 during year-1 after coming out. Most importantly, I had my first head-over-heels-in-love relationship. Lasted 4 months, took me more than 6 months to get over, turned me of forced-monogamy for good and led to a 2.5 year period of being unhappily single.

We share the same birthday (22 years apart, that is). So, Happy Birthday!

When I was 23, I spent almost the entire year traveling for my job and living in hotels. I only spent about 3 weeks at my house over the course of the entire year. It was a really great time for me to get out, see the world, learn about life, and just enjoy.

I hope your year is a good one!
