    I'm a translator.

    Likes:
-I've always loved foreign languages, so it's satisfying that a childhood hobby is starting to become my career.

-Every day I learn new words and phrases in a variety of fields in my target languages.

-My job is becoming more relevant and valuable as linguistic diversity continues to increase in the United States.

-I've met some very interesting people and have learned quite a bit about immigration issues and the immigrant perspective. There's way more to the matter than just telling them to learn English.

-I do most of my work at home in my pajamas - yes!

    Dislikes:
-I don't get enough work dealing with Russian, haha.

-I'm still waiting for the results of my translator's certification exam so that I can have some credibility and charge more!

-Some clients are particularly pushy with unrealistic deadlines. Some have dropped bombs on me to complete at the very last minute.

-Interpreting is where most of the $$ is, so until I can get more training in that, my current income is just barely keeping me afloat.

I absolutely believe the positives of my job far outweigh the negatives. It's something I love doing every day, so I don't plan to change my career anytime soon. However, I definitely want to become an interpreter also. Then I'll be unstoppable!

Would keep doing it, although it's a bit of a burnout at times.

    Career(s): Pilot and aerial photographer.

    Likes: Living my childhood dream.

Dislikes: Unpredictable schedule, working away from home for months at a time on a moment's notice with no return date set in stone, and no possibility of having a personal life outside of work (hence the reason I absolutely refuse to be monogamous - no boyfriend can handle my schedule).

I like most of the people I work with, the environment and benefits. Dealing with the public, as I have to do, can be annoying as can my boss at times. I also don't office politics and bullshit like that, which I've encountered.
