    Hi folks,

My bf who is 18 and just got on Accutane. We have been tested and are clean and have sex without condoms. I wanted ur suggestion if there is any reason we should consider using condomns while he is on Accutane.

Thanks in advance for ur thoughts

I don't think many of us have a medical background, so you might want to go to your doctor to be sure! Good luck.

It is very important that you use condoms while your bf is using Accutane because if you get him pregnant the baby could have serious birth defects.

Other than the fact that you kinda always should, no. Unless you have a uterus of course.

Well...you should always use a condom...On top of that, you should be aware of what accutane does. Accutane could, possibly, make anal sex a little messier. If your partner is the receiver, Accutane dries epithelium out...this includes the gastric and colonic mucosa...Dry mucosa is more friable, so it's more likely to bleed..

So, the extra blood and bleeding risk could, potentially, increase the risk for STD transmission from either end on top of making anal sex messier... Again, this is only a theoretical risk and you should use condoms with any penetrative sex act...especially at the age of 18...Not saying 18 year olds are more promiscuous than older people...but, well...

Um ..... curious as to the reasoning behind the question. That said, you should use a condom ..... always no matter what. People do things they regret and pass things on to others unintentionally because they are too embarrassed to tell you they been raw fucking a guy from the next town.

You are too young to have to bear that.

Or you could just decide to enjoy all the other forms of sex and intimacy. Many ways for partners to pleasure each other outside of anal. #justsaying

Accutane is a retinoid. His acne will be fine. :-) Now I would become concerned if he ends up pregnant.

Are you serious? What has Accutane to do with sex, the worse thing that could happen is his side effects got out of hand and he ended up killing himself from bad sex (common side effects includes nausea [they always fucking starts with that] and thoughts of suicide,

Use a rubber if you think its the right thing to do in terms of precaution (even as you said both you and him were tested) but Accutane has absolutely nothing to do with anything you are talking bout.

If you read above, you'll see that gastric and colonic mucosal drying and therefore bleeding (some accutane users get freaked out when they bleed during bowel movements) is a possible side-effect due to the effect of the retinoid on epithelium...so, whether the OP knew it or not, it's actually not a bad question...

Use a condom and copious amounts of condom-compatible lubrication. If drying of the anal mucosa is problematic (i.e. bleeding), then he shouldn't be having receptive anal intercourse.

So many men in monogamous relationships drop the condoms and one or both end up poz. FACT.

Think with your head...the one on top of your shoulders.

Have more sex that should cure that acne!! I never had it but it sounds gross.

sorry to disagree, but is nobody else out there tired of being told what they SHOULD or SHOULDN'T do in bed? I'm 41 one years old and I'm tired of hearing people tell others what they may or may not do in bed, or what they should or shouldn't do. The boy is an adult. He knows what risks are present.

And if you don't you should to your doctor, a therapist or your poz friends if you want to know more about HIV and make up your own minds. Don't rely on a bunch of opinionated strangers (and yes, that includes me!) to help you make up your mind.

Everyone should be free to do what they want provided they are not harming anyone else. And anyone who has sex should understand and accept the risks they are taking and be comfortable with them. We all have different notions of what risks are acceptable to us, and I'm tired of people telling me and others what I should and shouldn't do.

    Rant over. Thanks for reading.

    Right.

I don't understand this obsession with anal sex. For myself, I don't want anything to do with it. But even if it were not for the possibility of contracting STDs, condoms should always be used for anal sex because the bacteria that are normally present in the gut can cause problems in the urethra.

These girls are too much. Accutane and sex are not a conflict. You can fuck a guy with pimples, but you can't escape gay people who lack social skills on realjock.
