Hey, I posted before on taking my first 'gay' vacation, (see: http://www.realjock.com/gayforums/2049195/ ).

I've recently heard that Puerto Vallarta, MX is a pretty fun gay place to go.

Does anyone have anything good to say about Puerto Vallarta? Specifically about the gay resorts?

It sounds beautiful and tropical and warm and sunny, but the reviews I've seen make the gay resorts sound like loud (noisy), dirty (as in less sanitary), uncomfortable (rooms/beds), unsafe places (as in doors not locking and valuables being stolen) with lots of palmetto bugs and various other infestations.

Is this true? If not, what are your experiences and where would you recommend staying?

    Thanks in advance guys!

i dunno about gay resorts. nh crystal is a nice place. Mostly Latin tourists and europeans stay there. Its close to everything but far enough that you dont have to deal with drunkards all day.

its 50 cents to use the bus and i think 2 dollars for a taxi into the main area (malecon). I really recommend fajita republic for a good meal which is safe to eat. the bars are super fun and the locals are use to gays. The bars tend to have dancers who strip to the bare (not cool by me) which some people tend to like. dont think any gay club there will be of any hiugh standard. they are all pretty much holes in the wall but they are still fun. Take a day trip to yelapa just for the sake of doing something different. The whole gay beach thing gets old after a while. I was there for 15 days and after 4 I wanted to shoot myself and pretty much stayed at my hotel swimming and drinking coffee/reading.

Me and my man went there this past spring and had a blast. We stayed at the largest gay resort, Blue Chairs, and it was fine. But yes, it was noisy. Our room was near the top floor which was just under the rooftop pool. They also had male dancers up there for some eye candy.Every night around 6 the music came on and floods of people made their way up there. It is a gay resort and 90% of the customers are gay men so what do you expect? I would suggest if you do stay at Blue Chairs you make sure your room is on one of the lower floors (1-4) We never noticed the rooms being dirty or food/water unsafe. Nothing was ever stolen but then again we don't bring stuff that is too valuable on trips.

There were a few gay places in PV that will match up to American or European clubs.. The biggest and most popular was Club Manana. It has a good crowd on Weekends and is pretty fun. They also have a backroom if you are into that stuff. It's open on weeknights too but when we went it was pretty dead. There is another trendy martini bar called La Noche that is a few blocks south of Manana. The rest weren't anything to write home about.

Other than that it was great. The people were friendly and not once did we feel our safety was threatened. Just follow the standard tourist rules and you should be fine.

    Here's some pics...

I loved PV havent been in a few years but had a wild time- stay at one of the nice 4 or 5 star resorts and find some hot guys to party with- I felt like it was pretty gay-friendly though these days not so sure about overall safety??

I go every year, and stayed in a bunch of places. I found the places closer to the beach to be too loud and not all that nice. The're fine for a cheaper stay, I guess. My most recent favorite gay hotel is Casa Cupula. It's not right on the beach, it's a few blocks up the hill and a cool boutique-style place, very unique and nestled in the jungle. It's clean, beautifully decorated rooms, excellent restaurant. It's not the cheapest place you can stay at, but I think it's worth the money. Now I've started staying in condos, especially for week-long vists — there are lots of them and they're usually most cost-effective than hotels. Also great for two couples since there are lot of two-bedroom condos.

I love going in the shoulder seasons in November and March, great weather, rates are better, not as crowded especially on the beach.

For some reason, I've never experienced a bug problem in PV... you would think such a warm tropical environment would mean lots of bugs, but there just aren't.

Happy to answer more questions... I know the city well so feel free to message me.
