Suggestions to make this site better

Ok maybe I'm blind and could have posted this elsewhere, but I want this thread to gain attention because I like this site, I want to gain support for my suggestions from others, and I want people to make more suggestions in hopes that the admins can make this site even better.

    MY SUGGESTIONS:

    (1) Add pages to threads. So after 20 or so posts then the next set of posts spills onto page 2, then the next 20 on page 3 and so forth. This is common on nearly all other chat forums I've been to. Scrolling one page with 500+ comments is ridiculous. When I click on "who thinks I'm hot," the results are already divided into pages containing 20 people each. So why not do the same with threads? Plus it's MUCH easier to find comments when you remember which page as opposed to "well I think it was like the 300th comment or something...one....two...three..."

    (2) Have moderators. Make them be well-rounded people who check these forums often, and are intelligent enough to know the difference between freedom of speech and trolls/alts/people causing trouble for no reason. This will hopefully reduce influence of people that casually "report" other people just because they don't like them or disagreed with what they wrote in a thread.

    (3) Allow us to EDIT the title of our posts!!!!!!!!!

Do you guys agree or no? Also what are your suggestions?

Sorry. I disagree. I can use the Home and End keys to jump to top and bottom. I can use Find to get to things in between. If a thread were broken up into pages, that would all be more of a pain. Maybe they can make it a button so you can select it if you want it.

Sorry again. One person's FoS is an other's troll/alt/PCT. This would never work beyond what the Site Managers already do.

    (3) Allow us to EDIT the title of our posts!!!!!!!!!

Now this I TOTALLY AGREE with!

Do you guys agree or no? Also what are your suggestions?

Jake, your comments do have some validity to them and I agree that very long threads can be exasperating to work. Not sure that the page approach you talked about
is the best solution... earlier comments may not be read as much and readers may find it hard to get back from one end of the thread to another. I guess its something that RJ can consider.

Your moderator idea also makes some sense, but I agree with Cas that the interpretation of a "good" or "bad" response in a post will be interpreted differently.
I agree that there are some "trolls" as you put it that
are just hateful for no real reason.. I'd just report them to RJ and let them take action. If you have someone who's been overly rude in a thread, the RJ folks are going to tell them about it.

I personally would like to have "RJ Symposiums" held 3 or 4 times a year around the country that focus on everything from fitness, health, wellness, work related imput, legal considerations. I think it could be a boon to this site, charging admission, having vendors, encouraging particpation in this site. The
publicity would be great since there isn't anything like it.

A 'go to first unread post' feature in threads.

Hey admins, can you please fix the quoting function? Anytime someone tries to quote a quote it gets completely messed up and doesn't work.

I agree about the page thing too
when the threads get contentious and there are alot of posts it gets too unwieldy

Jake was before my time. But from what I've heard no one has filled his shoes. Oh well, c'est la vie.

I think it'd be cool to see a poll option when it comes to voting topics like other forum sites have. icon_smile.gif
