This coming week marks two years back in the gym after a ten year layoff .
It's been - and continues to be - a remarkable journey, with countless lessons in how outcome is relative to desire. Among the most unexpected turns is that I'm now the manager of my Trainer's gym and his practice.
I continue to be most grateful to the many buds I have on RJ who have encouraged me on this journey, and inspired me, particularly the guys over 50.
Here's to keeping resolutions, and to a healthy 2012 to everyone.
    XO

This could possibly be the first case of an RJ'er using a fake Before pic.

Wow! What a transformation! Thanks for the inspiration!

Great inspirational pics. I spent a lot of this past summer trying , cajoling, etc. my best bud who is 63 into joining my gym. Like 99 percent of folks he did have a membership at one of those chains but was far too self-concious to even venture past the treadmills or stair steppers and eventually stopped going. Well he finally agreed to go with me about 9 weeks ago. He isn't overweight, he had lost weight but was basically just "shapeless" with the bits of leftover flab and very weak arms. Anyways I told him truthfully not to expect any really visible results for at least 6 months or more and that we'd work on his chest and shoulders and triceps mainly and that we'd stick mostly with cable machines and dumbells. As well we would be going at least 5 days per week regardless of how shitty he felt, the weather was, no excuses.
It's worked out really well.. For example when he first sat at the pec deck machine he could barely squeeze out 8-10 on the 7th plate out of 21 , which I think on that machine is 210 lbs.. doesn't give the weight. He's of the mind that he's never going to be able to get to the bottom.. but here he is today on plate 15 cranking out 3 sets of 15. . Same with the overhead tricep extensions on the cable/rope.. Could barely move 25 lbs and now is up to 55.
He's really into it now because he never thought he'd be able to accomplish what he has so far and in such a short time. I'll show him your pics next time I'm over at his place.

I wish. In fact, it's a flattering before pic..trust me. No, that --- all of that --- was me, or at least covering me. LOL
