Hi there, how's it going. I thought it would be interesting
to post a forum for writers on RJ to network and bat around
for a few ideas. I've branched out as a travel writer and
am thinking of investing cash into my current good-ole-reliable Wordpress
site to make garner more hits etc. If you guys have any
suggestions as to how to funk it up - make it more
interactive etc. please let me know! It's currently pretty generic.
    (ignore the fitness section).

Otherwise, I'd be interesting in reading some of your
work if you guys have your own sites etc.

    Sorry can't help you there.

I am wrighting, drawing, and inking a yaoi (gay men sex) comic. But, it's still being made. No name for it yet.

But, when it's done I'll tell you. I think I'm naming it Sin's Gate.

Lol, too bad theres no horse porn on your blog.... jk

Well after checking out your blog some more it has good content, but it seems a little unfocused. I really like the pictures you have a long with your content, it looks like you are using the blog to send people to your articles on the site you right, correct?

Any ideas on how you would want to spice things up?

That's right! Thanks a lot for taking the time out to take a look at it!
Originally all links were to the article on as it appeared on the newspapers but now I am trying to hyperlink them all (slowly but surely) to my own site, where I
have more scope to include more pictures of each trip.

The site really just served as an online portfolio and the more I wrote
it got a bit bigger. I originally worked for Men's Health but those
articles don't really fit in to it as a travel site, so I must remove
them from the banner, and maybe add them to the "about me"
    section.

In terms of spicing it up, well there's no point doing destination polls etc when I have low traffic for now (75 hits on a good day!), so I'm was open
to ideas from web-users to see what feature's they'd like to see on a
travel site. I basically need to just write lots and lots of copy to keep it
fresh and so people will return, and comment, and interact. icon_idea.gif

Cool, I made a backpacking blog but I ended up messing with some wordpress files and it got deleted. At least I have the articles I wrote saved. I really need to get around to remaking it. I'm not too good at writing, I do better on the other side of it, the marketing part.

Structure is very important in a website, if people find it hard to read there are millions other out there they will click to.

Here's a link i found that may make looking for a new WP template a little easier. Once you figure out what features you need you can browse through them with a purpose.

Writing's not something I'm that good at, but I do love to share my experiences. Since your in essence "making a new blog", I would suggest focus on one thing at first, the one thing that gets your heart racing. Whether its write ups of places you been or documenting your trip. Master (or get really good at) one thing before trying to add too many spices. Also content is king, so my preference as a reader for travel is well written content with a few pictures optimized for loading fast (under 100kb ideally- these can link to high res, but if your site loads too slow then i would probably click out)
