There were 8.7 million jobs lost as a result of the Bush recession that President Obama inherited.
4.4 million jobs were lost in the last year of the Bush presidency and those job losses continued into the first year of the Obama administration as another 4.3 million jobs were lost as a result of the Bush recession.

Thankfully, since 2010 there have been job GAINS every month as 2.7 million jobs have been added as a result off the Obama recovery - and the pace of job gains is picking up.

It would be nice if all Americans were happy to see the job market improving, but unfortunately many of our Repub friends are still hoping for America to fail out of partisan animus.

Thank you for pointing this out -- apparently many people either have a very short memory and/or they refuse to accept reality. Meanwhile, 200,000+ jobs were added in December 2011 alone.

Factor in the bump from seasonal hires in December*, and the fact that the numbers do not consider the under-employed and those who have stopping looking for work.

*WSJ: Friday's Labor Department data showed the biggest job gains for transportation and warehousing, which benefitted from seasonal hiring; retail; manufacturing; health care; and food services.

    TOTAL BULLSHIT.

You obviously didn't bother to click on the link and read the article.

But thank you proving my point that you bitterly partisan Repubs are still hoping for America to fail.

I added a footnote which referenced comments on the data. I read several articles on it from WSJ, USAToday, etc.

I see we are at the start of another 3 day furlough for you. The last time, as SB pointed out, you were extremely stressed and angry. You didn't tell them when you got back in so they could better prepare you for this one?

    RickRick,

Please - some day - come join us in the real world.

    LMAO

I do live in the real world.

You on the other hand live in a fantasy world where:

Reagan was fiscally responsible (even though he more than tripled the National Debt and has the worst record by far of any US president on debt creation).

Bush Jr. did a good job (even though the country was in the worst shape in 70 years and his approval rating was at 21% when he left office).

Recessions supposedly hit whenever a Democrat is in the White House (when the actual fact is that 9 out the last 10 recessions hit when there was a REPUBLICAN in the White House, and every Republican who's been elected president for the last 60 years has had at least one recession hit on his watch.

Obama has hiked up everybody's taxes (when in fact Obama has CUT taxes and Americans are paying the lowest tax rates since 1950).

Please join us on the real world, SB!

This is what they are really afraid of, the fact that public sector jobs are on the decrease. That would mean the government is shrinking, right?

Now I guarantee you with the numbers going the way they are that a majority of the country are going to give the President another 4 years to see what more positives he can do in addition to the ones that he has already done/doing. I mean, the country gave President Bush another 4 years to clean up his mess.

    but back on topic..

the country needs jobs, private jobs are created under President Obama, they still cry socialism and other typical propagada bullshit that they have done for the last 3 years of the upswing. And yes, we are in an upswing.

btw, I am a progressive and might be sticking my nose in here more often. Feel free to bash, make fun of, belittle me, etc. etc. It will just invoke more spark in me for November. The reddest city in Florida will be going blue in 2012.

How does the President create sustainable (as in they'll actually be there after the government funding evaporates) private sector jobs?

    Solyndra?

Well, I guess he could be bought with bribes by corporate America. Political corporate manipulation seems to be the game to play by most policitians these days.

You will come to find out that I am not 100% in love with President Obama.

That was thanks to the strong economy Bush inherited from Clinton.
When BUSH'S policies took full effect in 2007, the economy fell into the Bush recession (the worst recession since the Great Depression) and the major job losses that would end up killing 8.7 million jobs began.

That's why Bush has the WORST track record on record for job creation.

There were only 3 million jobs created during the 8 years of the failed Bush presidency.
Contrast that with the 23 million jobs that were created during the 8 years of the successful Clinton presidency!

Then don't vote for Bush in 2012, RickRick.

Or any candidate who wants to go back to the failed Bush policies that wrecked the economy to begin with.

Like the entire 2012 GOP field!

Come election day we must remember these facts:

Every Repub president elected since at least 1900 had at least one recession hit on his watch.
    A shocking and damning statistic!
We've endured more than 100 years of Republican recessions!

Repub presidents have added TRILLIONS more to the National Debt than Democratic presidents.

It's obvious that we can't afford to have any more Repub presidents until the Repubs change their failed economic policies.

Must be why....Republicans lost the popular vote in 4 out of the last 5 presidential elections.

In 2012, the same old tired evangelical/fundamentalist Christian positions will be a tougher sell than ever. With 54% of voters now favoring same sex marriage, the NOM pledge signed by the Republicans is out of step with where people want the country to go. Swing voters understand SSM is the perfect gift....they feel good about recognizing a civil right to a group, but it costs them nothing to give.

And if Santorum is the nominee, his "man on dog" fears will look downright bizarre.
