Wal-Mart owns enough of our government, so their social costs are transferred onto you, the US Taxpayer. But good thing Investment Funds in other countries now blacklist the most evil corporation ever created.

"...On Tuesday, the Netherlands' biggest pension fund, Algemeen Burgerlijk Pensioenfonds, with more than $300 billion in assets, announced that it was blacklisting the largest retailer in the world for noncompliance with the United Nations' Global Compact principles. The Global Compact presents a set of core values relating to human rights, labor standards, the environment and anti-corruption efforts. Sixteen other companies were blacklisted along with Walmart, nearly all of them excluded for producing chemical or nuclear weapons that violate the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty...."

This is great news. Hopefully it will help Americans wake up to the real facts behind Wal Mart's always low prices and how the US taxpayer ends up having to pay more to help this preditory retailing giant get away with poor, unacceptable labor and business practices. You will never catch me in a Wal Mart that is for damned sure.

This is another of those places where you see roadbikerob and me rubbng shoulders in total agreement (there are actually quite a lot of them)
SURPRISE to all the other lefties!

rob has never sent me anything even vaguely hateful; to the contrary, I recall only a couple of very friendly emails where we marvelled at our agreement.

It stands out in my memory because I consider him bluntspoken but not dogmatic or closed minded, and I think he has a similar disgust with disingenuousness and people of any political stripe playing dumb.
