Do you do the pet names thing with your significant other when you have one? icon_surprised.gif

Me and my boyfriend are always like "you're my snuggly baby and i love you~!"
Only in private though, because it's so sweet that it's sick.

Bonus question: What's the cutest thing a significant other has ever done for you?

I stayed with my boyfriend for a week and a half and he made me chocolate banana pancakes with cinnamon spread for like 5 out of 10 days. <3

I always know when I've fallen truly, madly, deeply for someone when I find myself spontaneously calling him Anduru. icon_biggrin.gif

During my brief relationship with the man I thought would save my soul... we unexpectedly came up with pet names for each other. He kept referring to his feelings for me as "twitterpated" so I started calling him Thumper - which was immediately shortened to Thump since it was hotter, more masculine, and well... shorter. Then he started calling me Wolf for my steely grey/blue eyes and intense stare that (as he said) looked deep into his soul.

Wolf and Thump. It was great... while it lasted. *sigh*

I don't like pet names. Jake's enough... I'd rather be a person than a pooky-bear or whatever names people give other people nowadays.

i would call my ex "sexy little stud muffin" once in a while or, when he was naked, call him "Naked *his name*". *Him* and Naked *Him* were two different beings icon_razz.gif

And i would call his black pug (male) Boo Boo. The white one (female) i'd call her bitch if i didn't use her real name (I had a love hate relationship with her)

Uh...I like babe or baby. Which kind of makes me sick to admit it because 2 years ago I would have been like blegh who actually wants to be called that.

Things change when someone you really care about uses them with you icon_redface.gif

I can call my boyfriend any time 24/7 and he will answer.
He says that he doesn't care what time is it, because he loves to hear my voice. <3

Golly, there is evidence of some sweet puppy love in this thread--thumbs up for that. After almost fifteen years with my partner, I still go with "Dear heart, Hon, Sweetness, or Man-I-Love." My days of sugary pet names have progressed naturally into a time of settled, supportive, partnership. Please don't take that to mean each day isn't still full of adventure and surprise. icon_smile.gif

    Great topic!

My ex-boyfriend and I had dozens of pet names for each other. It was cute but sometimes a bit too much. We had a good relationship for the most part, lasting 3 and a half years. Now with my current boyfriend, with whom I've been for 15 months, there are no pet names whatsoever. Interesting, huh? He is not the pet name sort of guy, and I guess I can take them or leave them myself since I don't miss being called various things. When we first starting dating, however, he did call me once "my baby" which I liked. I guess I wouldn't mind if he called me that once in awhile, but whatever.

Here are some of the pet names my ex-boyfriend and I used with each other. Interestingly, I invented most of them! (Sorry ahead of time if it's too sappy!)

    cuddle-buddy (and variations of each)
    nugget
    cuddle nugget

. . . and many more. My ex- and I have stayed friends, and it's still weird because we call each other only by our real names now!
