Oh, he's only "preaching to the choir," so who listens to him anyway?

There shouldn't be a discussion on this. We already know his views and they are not going to change at his old age. I just don't understand why a new topic has to be started about everything new the pope says about gays.

Except some of the "faithful" will be energized by this. I suspect this is timed for the US election, where US bishops are mounting a big anti-gay crusade, especially where anti-gay measures are on the ballot. This gives their position more authority, since they can reference the homophobic pronouncements of the Holy Father.

They are so out of touch with what their own people are thinking. Catholics are ahead of the curve in accepting same-sex relationships. There are Catholic parishes marching in the Heritage of Pride right under Archbishop Cardinal Dolan's nose.

    I quote The Cho:
"Yeah, you're a real good judge of normal, with your gold dress and your matching gold hat, living it up in the Vatican with 500 men surrounded by the finest antiques in the world! Queen, please! You live like Versace did!"

The number of Catholics (and/or conservative religious people in general) will continue to slowly decline because of stuff like this. Catholic churches and schools are having to close all across the country--masses are being reduced in numbers as well.

My family History with the RCC:
My grandparents on both sides of the family were brought up Catholic. My parents and aunts and uncles were all Catholic (nine in all), and they raised my sister, my cousins and myself Catholic as well (seven).

Fifteen years ago, my family was entirely Catholic with 20 in the family. Now 3 of my grandparents and 1 uncle are dead, 4 cousins have left the Catholic church as well as my sister, father, mother. I left the church long before they did.
Only 3 family members remain truly loyal to the RCC.

I suspect this is happening to many other families--moreover, people are not having as many children these days as when my grandparent were kids (my grandmother had 13 brothers/sisters).

The RCC will continue to slowly loose it's power in 1st World countries.

Indeed, and completely insulated from reality.

Speaking as a Catholic myself, he needs to worry about the abuses to the institution of marriage internally with the straights before even approaching this particular subject. Endangering humanity? Really? Rediculous.

Believe me, I'm not defending his nazi ass... just funny how according to a catholic-spun site, he didn't even mention same sex marriages!

Also: WHY WAS HE DRESSED LIKE SANTA CLAUS!? Bitch is NOT giving out presents.

Because we have to know what the vatican's latest pronouncement is because we know then the r.c. church acts on it. We in the gay community must be forewarned and forearmed.

He is just a nasty hypocrite, as is any gay person who follows his fucked up cult.
