Greek workers can now get disability pay of 35%, if they are pedophiles. But with the age of consent there being 8, not too many kid fuckers will qualify. When will the rest of the EU follow suit?

    shameful.

Many of the productive greeks have long since left that country many decades ago. It is a shell of its glory in the BC error. What you have is a dependent society. My grandparents left in the 20's

Many greek families like my own find little in common other than language and religion with modern greeks.

They would have been better off to let them go Communist, then recover as now they are in a wasteland of values and economics. The United States has long coddled them with Aid and protection from Communism, and this is what you get.

Many Immigrants and Americans would die before receiving a government handout in the past. This is what you get when everyone's idiosyncrasy and perversion gets you a payout.

You're forgetting all the fascism that helped lead to Greece's current state of affairs, particularly when the fascists ran up massive debts that the alleged "communists" are now responsible for paying.

Exhibitionists, Fetishists, AND Sadomasochists also are eligible!

I can qualify under any one of those!

    I'm moving to Greece!

The general provision for age of consent in Greece is 15 as specified by Section 339(1) of the Penal Code, which reads:

"One who commits an indecent act with a person under fifteen years of age, or causes this person to commit or undergo such an act through deception, is punished as follows..."

Where are you getting that the age of consent is 8? That is absolutely ludicrous.

It says one who commits an indecent act with a person under 15 OR causes this person to undergo an act through deception, is punished as follows...

Regardless if deception was involved or not the act is still punishable if the person involved is under 15.

Regardless how you characterize the prior regime. It was fear of Communism, which was doomed to fail anyway that gave birth to this dependent state. The US was so afraid of Communism it wasted money on bribing them not to be.

The national pastime of Greece currently is to spend all day in the Cafenia , smoking and cursing the US, and everyone else in the world. Meanwhile they indirectly collect a subsidy from EU and US aid.

They are currently a very ignorant and racist people, and anti-semetic. They believe only idiots pay taxes.

It does sound self hating as I am 100% greek. I would contrast the country of Greece with the immensely productive and successful American's,Canadians that have emigrated who pay taxes and for some work until the day they die. Those are who I am proud of.

So fear of communism led to a US sponsored fascist state and now a quasi-capitalist state where no one wants to work? I've known many Greek immigrants myself and they are among the hardest working people I know. I find it hard to believe that everyone remaining in Greece is a layabout. The current regime is putting the old fascists back in power, btw.

The US sponsorship allowed for the country to atrophy. Very few pay taxes because "its ok not too".
I've known many Greek immigrants myself and they are among the hardest working people I know This is 100% true.

At least my travels back to Greece, talking to different locals who believe that Greece should be payed for the use of the "Greek Alphabet" used on fraternity shirts to a portion of profits from " Greek Yogurt". The country is delusional. Like a drug addict addicted to other peoples money there average

"Perhaps not, but it is still difficult to explain to outsiders why the Greek government has identified at least 580 job categories deemed to be hazardous enough to merit retiring early — at age 50 for women and 55 for men"

    http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/12/business/global/12pension.html?pagewanted=all

Greeks just about anywhere else work hard because there work can get them something. In the motherland hard work doesn't get you much. You do better on your ass smoking and drinking.

I was blessed to be invited to Thanksgiving at the home of an immigrant Greek grandmother, and her two daughters. One daughter is a colleague. The other daughter is a mother of two (with #3 on the way) and married to a transgended man. My colleague had her Italian common-law husband with her. The two grandchildren were there. I did not see any prejudice or discrimination or racism. All I saw was love and tolerance. They accepted me with open arms and some of the yummiest food I've ever had in my life.

Maybe things are different in "The Old Country", but my inside view of one Greek family gave me the impression of core values of love, family, and passion for living.

The galaktoboureko was divine! YaYa even sent me some of her baklava via her daughter. Her daughter informed me that YaYa only made one pan this year, and that YaYa specifically wanted me to have some of it.

Yep , one aspect of life. But yes you really cannot eat food on the east coast without the behind scenes run or owned by a Greek.

I am painting the country with a broad brush. But it is sort of the Worlds problem as if Greece defaults a domino of other countries will. And likely the US will see worse economic times.

What I am saying is the country has a bad attitude about its problems. To contrast Ireland seems to have taken responsibility for its debt and really turned around. It shouldn't reflect on the 3 million of greek heritage .
