UK_Jimmy saidHi, I'm currently living in the UK but may be moving over to Toronto on a working holiday visa so I wondered if anyone could let me know where are the best places to live in Toronto and what sort of prices rent would be?
I've had a quick look on craigslist but dont know what other sites to check out - and if there are any gay houseshare type sites that would also be great.
Thanks for any help guys.
Hey Jimmy,
You can try kijiji.ca to get more options on accomodations... Rent depends on where u wanna move to and eventho downtown rentals ( 1 bedroom ~ $1600 for new condos, not too sure abt houseshare) are usually more expensive, there are still pockets of neighborhoods that are cheaper (usually the older apts). If you are gonna work downtown, the best is to share an apt/condo that on yonge street where the subways are at.. Other nice houses/condos are on bloor st, queen st, king st, that runs parallel to yonge and neighborhoods like yorkville, annex, st lawrence market.. If u wanna live in/near a gay village, check out the apts (usually older ones) near wellesley/church st.. For newer and cheaper apts, there are midtown and north york neighbourhoods that are further north from downtown and they are cheaper.. As i said, when you live on yonge street even if u dun own a car, public commute should be a breeze... Btw, there will be more rental housing available in the summer so it also depends when ur moving here...
Hope that helps...
