Could someone in NYC teach me to shoot a gun?

This place seems like it will serve your needs.

I used to go to a firing range with my brother back in CA. It was fun. Some cities even have gay gun clubs, but I think that's more of a west coast thing. I don't really see one here in NYC.

If you like the class and want to go further, there are schools that provide various kinds of tactical training classes. Front Sight is famous, just fyi. Located near Las Vegas. If you google tactical shooting classes nj or ny, some others come up. I don't know about the one in New Jersey, probably not too far in the 201 area, but here's the link.

So true here in the southwest (New Mexico and Arizona) we are like texas everyone pretty much owns a firearm. Even my grandma has a Double Barrel 12 Gauge Shotgun that she keeps in her closet icon_lol.gif

Its not as scary as most assume; I prob shot a gun for the 1st time when I was 6 or so( dad was right next to me dont get ya panties in a bind). I was crappin my pants mostly because I saw how much " kick back" happened in the movies.... reality is much less crazy. icon_smile.gif

PS Ill make sure John Walsh has this thread just in case their is a new serial killer in NY......icon_lol.gif

It's hard to do (if not impossible) in NYC with any handguns or high-caliber weapons, but easy as spit outside of the Five Boroughs.

Do you want to be Dirty Harry or Annie Oakley?

If it's merely a bucket list item, and Annie Oakley suits you, then do it in NYC at the Westside Pistol and Rifle Range (.22 and 9mm only). The range's name is a little misleading; the vast majority of NYC residents can't legally carry or shoot pistols, but I digress.

I personally the think the wait is long and the cost way too expensive (one week wait plus $120+) for firing what are nothing more than souped-up bb guns, but it's likely to be perfect for your purpose.

If I knew you, I'd be happy to teach you the basics using my rifles on the upstate property. Sadly, I don't know you, so I'd make you sign a waiver icon_wink.gif However, there are plenty of ranges up there with a vast selection of firearms for rent. you still need to take a class, but it's a hell of a lot more interesting than firing a .22, and makes for a great Saturday activity.

I love how in Vegas there are billboards on the freeways advertising "gun stores" and "Get your gun here!" slogans all over them.

It feels like the wild wild west.
Tho there are lots of gun stores on the east coast, they seem more discreet and less "in ur face" than they do in Nevada.
