Very interesting vid. He makes some good points, but he uses the term Christianity to describe his faith which was a term created by religion. The first followers of jesus were called "believers in the Way." But I understand what he's trying to say. But I'm the product of 22 years of catholic Jesuit school education, so I would probably just challenge him with logic and facts about his views. But I was a naughty catholic boy, very naughty.

Someone else posted this video on my fb page and I told them; to think critically, I don't agree with this video as it uses a lot of Jesus based Pathos (emotion based rhetoric) to convince the viewer. To convince me in anything I require logos (logic based rhetoric) and neutrality.

The exact reason I never say the words 'I'm Religious'...

My viewpoints might be weird, but this piece was amazing.

In my opinion, religion is a crutch for the weak-minded and ignorant, so I approached this with a closed mind, thinking the clip was going to be fodder from some religious or Republican-funded group. Boy, was I wrong.

This video is a well made, thoughtful and thought provoking piece of work.

True Christianity and the story of Jesus is something I can get behind that most modern churches are pretty much completely lost on. This video explains that pretty well.

I still don't believe there was a guy named Jesus who died on the cross for our "sins." The original following came into being and grew as a response to Roman oppression. The problem with all the major religions on earth is that they are earth-centric and have this supernatural explanation for what lies beyond the physical world that isn't really necessary anymore. If people would just realize that we are all human, we are all going to end up in the same place at the end, that material wealth doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, and that what really matters in life is the experiences you accumulate and your relationships with people in it...the same thing could be accomplished. But that's asking way too much.

The funny thing for me is the jesus character in most people's heads is very different from the oen protrayed in the bible. That character is hardly worth adoration.

A few years ago, I befriended a Jewish couple and we were having conversation. I stated that I can't stand how many Christian religions whore out the Jewish faith for their own sense of righteousness and salvation. They emphatically agreed.

Very powerful words. Makes you think. I'm not a big fan of organized religion, but sometimes (rarely) I'm spiritual.

I liked it. Best line was, "Just because you say others are blind doesn't necessarily give you vision."

Also, to be truthful, he seems to reference Republicans but African Americans are overwhelmingly "religious" as are many Hispanics, yet they both lean heavily Democratic. I make that clarification because there is something for everyone in the piece, not just the Religioius Right.

Don't be sensitive Runner. Intelligent people should be able to have a discussion about religion without becoming emotional or making it personal or criticizing others who may view the issue differently. That's one of the points the guy is making in the video. If you practice Judaism, then you should know that Judaism has a long, rich, and respected intellectual tradition of debate about religious issues. Just take a breath and relax.

Good looking guy, confident, does well in front of a camera or crowd, very cool message. Some baggage distracts from the message.

Distinguishing between "religion" and "organized religion" would help. Religion means belief in, and worship of, God.

Belief in God is not a "blind" "infection" or "bondage" for "slaves."

"Organized religion" is a particular system of belief practiced and promoted by a group, sometimes by force.

No need to bring Republican into the discussion, or Fox News (which he does on another video). Democrats can also be Christian in name only.

It's not helpful to imply that religion doesn't feed/help the poor. Christian organizations have accomplished marvels in collecting contributions and quietly using them properly all over the world.

The atheist myth that religions start wars doesn't help. Did Christianity inspire the anti-Christian Hitler to invade Christian Poland? What religion inspired the Japanese to attack Pearl Harbor? Which religion started the Revolutionary War? The Civil War? World War I? the Korean War? the Vietnam War?

Yes it can be argued that Christ was killed by an organized religion working with the State (Rome). Christ's death was required that we might have eternal life. His blood is on all of our hands.

Any follower of any religion, especially one with a nearly impossible system of ethics like Christianity, can be a hypocrite.

Christian hypocrites will be held accountable.

The bigger the sinner, myself included, the more important it is to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. And since that's the main point of the video, it's very cool.

    Rudy-

Thanks for posting this video; I couldn't agree more with his message.

The highest purpose of all religion is to be "good" by following and maintaining an outward behavioral standard of moral and ethical goodness. This results in a lot of evil being done in the name of good. By the way, the old covenant Mosaic Law was given to show man he could not keep the Law... and he did, in fact, fail miserably in his own efforts to attain the righteousness which is by the law.

The calling and purpose of God in Christ is to know and become a testimony of Divine love. This is accomplished by the Holy Spirit's work in a believer's heart that conforms his heart attributes in the likeness of God's own heart. This is the message and purpose of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the failure of religious Christianity today. Simply look at the shameful state of the church and how it is increasingly despised in the world because of its blatant hypocrisy. All Jesus' harsh words were not directed at the world, but at the religious system of his own people who rejected him and persecuted him.

God's focus today is on true believers who are daily being conformed (outside of the apostasy of religion) in the likeness of God's heart to rightly represent Him on the earth in the coming days. There is more to Jesus Christ than the counterfeit "religion" portrays.

    Atheists for Jesus

    http://www.atheists-for-jesus.com/

Even though I am now atheist/agnostic, many of my morals and values are rooted in the notion 'what would Jesus do.'

Ironically, that phrase also led me to eventually reject Christianity! lol

you are free to believe or not believe. it is your right to do so. i think you are dead wrong about the current events and their relation to prophecy.

the thing about prophecy - one never realizes it until it has already occurred.
