Intolerance against Republicans in the gay community

Often, when gay people find out I am Republican, they are shocked, often to the point of personal offense. I just found an RJ profile with the following text on it:

"and if you are Republican I dont want to even know you-you get the hand in the face"

If someone's political beliefs are reason enough to reject someone for friendship and said rejection does not cause a negative reaction from the PC "tolerant" left, what does that say about the gay community? Why is it OK to send vicious hatemail to Republicans, but not OK to respectfully state you aren't into Asians?

FF your experience may differ, but I suspect it comes from a fairly small percentage of RJ members and members of the gay community. About those who feel so strongly about their politics that they would reject someone only for that reason, I think it's fine. My standards are high enough that I wouldn't give them the time of day anyway. I think as events evolve over the next several months, the anger and bitterness will increase. After the 2010 elections, one RJ member announced he would use the Forum Ignore feature on every conservative he could think of. Some time later he announced he was coming to LA for a function and wanted to meet RJ members. Continued making posts, then later complained that the turn out was zero. Ha. Didn't result from the forum blocks, but from a truly ugly personality often associated with the intolerant.

Both political parties are deeply flawed. I have had just as many ugly moments at parties with liberal democrats as I have had with conservative republicans, but my sense is that republicans are almost proud of their hatred of most things gay, fighting equal rights, marriage and military service and when those rights are finally granted by democrats, all those evil things the republicans promised would happen never seem to occur.

I do not register with either party. At this point they are both diseased whores willing to suck a dick for the right price. I can't imagine anyone proudly proclaiming themselves proud members of either party at this point.

That most of it members support the party that restricts economic freedoms rather than the one restricting personal ones? Given the choice, it's quite natural that gays side usually with the first and not the second, isn't it?

I think most people are intolerant of FF because he's a racist douche bag, who often starts nasty threads about other gay men for the so-called "lulz." icon_cool.gif

As I've written on here before (which subsequently adds to my "hated factor" here on RJ): Many gays (in the USA at least) are intolerant, hypocritical, hateful and fearful people.

I know hundreds of gay people all across the country and very few of them are as you describe. Perhaps the stunning hatred, fear and hypocrisy that most gay conservatives project brings something out in them. icon_rolleyes.gif

FF indicated he saw the reaction when people learn of his politics, not when they consider his threads. There was nothing personal in the OP, but that didn't stop you. Personal attacks appear to have become your modus operandi in both political as well as non-political issues. I can understand your needed tool of desperation in the political areas, but once you get used to it, looks like it becomes second nature. BTW - one well-known RJ member who is definitely considered liberal told me he has become embarrassed about your messages. I suspect he's not the only one.

Perhaps our friendly "forum moderator" might like to weigh in on the personal attack?

I would say anyone worth being a friend would listen first , and maybe challenge you on views. But if its a categorical ridicule then they probably they have some maturity issues.

Some have no idea what conservative ideals are, and may put lines like you quote in a profile like lyrics from a Lady GaGa song.

John - You've jumped the shark so long ago that you're no longer a serious interlocutor. I realize that your seething hatred of Obama has made you somewhat unstable and Romney's likely nomination and subsequent defeat are difficult for you to process, but none of that makes FF less of a racist douche bag. The kid regularly writes stunningly and jarringly racist posts and you defend him. Then you all cry foul when a person of color calls you out on it. Further, FF invited a discussion of his beliefs through his own comparison of his posts versus "hateful vicious emails" (which frankly was mild compared to what he writes).

In terms of a "liberal" member who is "ashamed of" me, I couldn't possibly care less. I'm not a liberal and anyone who would talk smack about me behind my back has already revealed themselves to be a coward.

Well we can't be sure about the election results, but having an idea what is planned on the Obama record, I wouldn't bet too much on his reelection. Wondering what his hardcore supporters will do on RJ: Quit, go inactive, or become even more bitter, making a further spectacle of themselves.

I'm curious - if an RJ member has you on block, yet he posts attacks on you, is he also a coward?

Hmmm. Good question. Not sure how I think about that. I've only blocked three people in my entire time here - CHRISTOPHER, ConservativeJock and ShyBuffGuy. I do think it's kind of weak to do that though since you can talk smack about people and not see their responses.

LOL I have no one blocked.. I enjoy laughing to much and some of the douchebags here are hysterically insane!

I often wonder what news sources you read/watch because any objective analysis says that Romney is an extremely weak candidate and hes not inspiring support from the Tea Party, the evangelical base or any other Republican Party stalwarts. And it wouldn't surprise me if there's a far right third party candidate, which will be disastrous for Romney.

OK, I lol-ed at this. Your skill for trolling is unparalleled. We've gotten hate-mail, so your point is no point. As for politely stating you aren't into Asians, that topic you started about Asians in the bar where you work was nasty.

Ironically, if someone else, and SB you know who I'm referring to, started the topic, you'd be down his throat on every other topic of his reminding everyone of this.

Ah thanks. That justified the "racist douche bag" comment here. I had odds at 80% you would stay uninvolved or justify the ad hominem. I won.

You might be right. Armed with his new populist anti-Romney movie and his massive ego, the Grinch is just getting started.

Whatever, you're lame. Did I call him a racist douche bag or comment on anything Christian said?

Nope. That's you with a rather nasty habit of playing social politics on RJ.

My post was about what you said, and was addressing you.

Hey FF, noticed how after all your hard work in the gym pays off, the attacks against you get harsher. The hardcore here fears any increasing influence with the uninvolved guys who lurk. Has to put a big smile on your face. icon_lol.gif

Precisely the point. You did not comment, but by inference supported him. So actually you did both, stayed relatively uninvolved and supported Christian. My 80% was doubly justified.
