Is this on a par yet with blasphemy, or drawing cartoons of Mohammed?
I don't know anyone intelligent who rejects what 99% of scientists believe simply because their political party demands that they do.
On the surface, JP... I would agree with this part about rejecting the consensus of science on the matter.
But the almost religious fervor of the heated response and terms (such as "deniers") that greets those who for whatever reason do not care to accept this consensus seems a bit... emotional and irrational.
It is sort of like the old evolution argument or the flat earth argument before that - if someone wants to believe that the earth was a flat disc instanced out of a void 6000 years ago with a goofy couple to populate it who couldn't even listen to a basic directive not to eat a certain fruit...
...then that is their business. I might share a cup of coffee with them and talk about the Jets, but that's likely as much common ground as we may find.
