    Story Highlights

Mexican born product designer creates a radical concept for tackling climate change

The Nano Vent Skin would utilize nanotechnology to create organic wind turbines

Energy from the sun could also be harvested through organic photovoltaic skin

His futuristic concept is called the Nano Vent-Skin (NVS) and the design -- to wrap buildings in an organic lattice skin made up of micro wind turbines -- is radical.

nanotech... highly dangerous in itself but has the possibility of really really great returns to civilization. Still a looong way off in terms of research. But the idea is great.

Solar power is harvested through an organic photovoltaic skin which then transfers the energy to nano-fibres located inside nano-wires. The power is then sent to storage units located at the end of each panel.

    This especially.

Speaking of skin, has anyone seen the new BMW Gina Light? icon_razz.gif

Wouldn't the little parts get gummed up with dusk and polutants ?

It's nanotech not microtech. It would more likely be liable to chemical damage than mechanical ones. icon_razz.gif
