Long story short, I gave cash to a guy who said he would fix a few things in my car and he never did (they actually didn't need it) I told him I want the money back and he never did and I have never heard from him since Wednesday

So call me an idiot and whatever but the fact is it happened so what can I do to try to get more information on him besides a name, number and car description??

I do feel stupid but now I need my money back, because even though he didn't technically steal it, it still is fraud and he lied/cheated me

Don't pay until the work is done. There is only one person who can help you now:

Really very little you can do. Probably no signed contract, oral agreements are very hard to prove, and you'll have to go file in small claims court, and then hope that he shows up...

Write it off as a learning experience. It sucks, but such is life.

I hate when people take advantage of others. You thought you could trust this guy to do the work and now here you are with no money and a car not fixed. It's not right. Just remember there is a thing called Carma! What goes around comes around. I hope you get things straightened around.

There are lots of internet sites that offer to get you information on people. Find one you trust and invest a few bucks. Then either take him to court, harass the hell out of him, or get an Italian acquaintance to make him an offer he can't refuse.
