Best City to Be a Gay Asian?

I live in a small city and I'm going to take this year to explore some cities that I might want to move to.

Portland is a predominantly white city, so dating here is often hard because of preferences and bla bla (I've read the posts regarding this issue)

I probably need to move to a bigger city (definitely warmer) explore.
I think living in a city where the preference usually isn't you (type) can take a tool on your ego, and we need an ego of some sorts.

    Any suggestions?

I imagine most cities in Southern California are bustling with Asians and Gaysians abound.

There are many here in DC and the suburbs also, mainly Korean, Vietnamese, and Chinese.

Philadelphia has a very large gay asian community, and coming from NYC, I was very, very surprised.

Seattle. It is just south of Vancouver, where all the hot Asian boys hang out.

I live in LA but NYC is the best city to be gay in. Period.

Wake me up when gays can marry in LA and SF.

NYC has the best mix of gays.

San Diego has tons of Asians.
Atlanta is more of a black city. There is an Asian presence, however this is a chocolate city, sister!

    Austin? Texas? Naaaah

I don't know if I can handle NYC quite yet ha. I think I'm going to have to travel and get a taste of it all. Nursing pay and cost of living are a big deal too

LA has a good variety of places to live, in terms of price and amenities. It's just a matter of much you're willing to put up with the traffic.

Then come to Philly. It's sorta NYC lite, MUCH, MUCH cheaper, and with all the hospitals, you should be able to find a job easy.

    Edit:
We even have a gay asian community health & services org:

Yeah I heard some good things about Philly actually.
Its soooo cold in the winter is the only thing.
I'm not looking for other Asians necessarly, but I guess a change in setting to where they are more appreciated!

    Thanks for all your input!

Does a city that's predominantly a race different from yours really mean that most of them would not want to date you? I don't want to open another can of worms; but in my mind I would think that kind of situation would make you to be more popular...

I guess my main goal was a bigger gay city, not necessarily directed towards being an Asian.
I would make more sense to go where there is a large population but bigger pound, more fish is the general thought

    San Francisco. Hands down.
Sydney is probably a close second.

    Is NYC not an option?

I mean, NYC isn't just 30 Rock. You could always live in a cheaper outerborough like Brooklyn or Queens. In fact, Queens has a heavily Asian area (Flushing). Not only that but Manhattan (below Harlem) is very gay-friendly.

I can't say it's a race fairytale over here, but it's mixed enough where you can feel comfortable in your own skin.

    San Francisco.

    Even our mayor is Asian.
Great sunny weather, year 'round (rain sometimes during the Winter).
    LOTS of nursing jobs available.
    Very liberal.

    VERY expensive.

There are quite a lot of Asians here in Vegas. Different flavors too. icon_smile.gif
I wouldn't say it's the best place to be a gay Asian, but we're treated pretty fairly here. icon_smile.gif

Cities with the most influential gays, a large gay population, where gays can marry, with the best gay nightlife, with the hottest gay guys and with the best shopping of course. Well, that's what I think when someone asks me to rank the best gay cities.

But since he's Gaysian, maybe SF is the best gay city.

You could always try Australia Melbourne and Sydney are very Asian friendly and we are sort of in Asia. Nursing pay and conditions are also very good I work 4 days a week no shifts and get 5 weeks annual leave!!
