southbeach1500 saidDemocrats had complete control of the Federal government for the first 2 years of the Obama administration and yet, despite all the lip service to "the gays" election after election that they are "for the gays" and "for gay rights" the Democrats somehow completely forgot about making "gay marriage" Federally recognized.
If not then... when?
Isn't this like the 12th time you've raised this bogus issue? The correct & honest answer being it's not the Democrats at fault, but the Republican filibuster in the Senate.
And I know, you'll continue the myth you keep repeating, that no facts can stop. The truth is that Democrats only had a 60-vote, filibuster-proof supermajority in the US Senate for 1 month, not the 2 years you keep lying about. Not a lot of time to do anything against the resistance of the Party of No. Please prove it was otherwise.
But as others less partisan than you have noted, what in contrast have Republicans done for gays, or that you expect them to do? We have their anti-gay party platforms in evidence, we have their pledges to the Christian Right, we have the homophobic legislation they have proposed, and in many cases actually passed.
Where is your comparable evidence of anti-gay activism among Democrats? Your best argument is that Democrats haven't done enough. And why? Because of Republican legislative opposition. And so your remedy is to vote more dedicated anti-gay Republicans into power. HUH?????
And bottom line, when did Republicans ever say Yes to gay marriage, but in fact have said NO emphatically, and passed laws to that effect, and put it in their Party Platform. Even civil unions are opposed, even gays inheriting from their partners, even Republican laws that say a gay partner can't be at his dying partner's bedside. When you can explain and justify those Republican positions, maybe someone here will take you seriously.
