I almost forget he was a one term president. How come nobody ever talks about it....just Jimmy Carter? Jimmy Carter was a better president than George H. W. Bush, but the right-wing seems to ignore Bush and paint Jimmy Carter as the worst president in history.

They blame any negative situation regarding the GOP that comes to light on the liberal media.

    Nice observation!

The Repubs do like to yammer about Carter as if the recession that hit on his watch somehow proves that the Dems are bad for the economy.
But the actual fact is that nine out of the last ten recessions have hit when there was a REPUB president in the White House!
And every Repub president for more than 100 YEARS has had at least one recession hit on his watch!

By contrast, there have been four Democratic presidents in the last 50 years who had ZERO recessions hit on their watch!

The fact is that the economy and the stock market have historically done vastly better when there's been a Democrat in the White House.

Contrary to BS we constantly hear from the right-wingers.

They think that if they lie to us often enough loud enough and long enough eventually we'll believe their BS.

That is why its so important to call out the gay conservatives on every lie. They usually revert to avoidance tactics like posting threads about the weather or caps lock titles.

I love to remind Republicans about George H.W. Bush of the early 1990's.. Lets not forget that little recession, while he put us in the Gulf War (Desert Storm).. Unemployment hit 7.8% in July of 1992.. Luckily he was a one term president.. We may have went through a recession as bad as this one during the 90's.. Bill Clinton was to the rescue and gave us the best economy we ever had until the dark days of Bush JR.. Funny how Republicans are blaming this recession on both Carter and Clinton and when you remind them about Bush Sr, they seem to ignore it..

I look at the primary pic in the profile. I look at the pic closely. I see the lines and the wrinkles. I see the other pics, and I see some of you much younger. I'd hate to see what the ol monster looks like after ringin the doorbell. I ask myself, could this be the type that stalks the park bathrooms? Yup, those ol ass closeted gay Republicans love to show there shame out in public places to young kids.

I attended Bush's rally immediately following his debate with Clinton in Richmond Va back in 1992 , I was struck while watching the big party atmosphere, at how Bush had nothing much of depth to say but was riding on Reagans coat tails.

Had to bite my tongue because I was in attendance there with a true Local Gov Partisan on a side trip while attending a US Dept of HUD meeting, so thank you tax payers for that experience, Ha. I'd have much rather been at Clintons rally, but had no choice. Everyone should attend one of these in their lifetime, Its pretty interesting.

That's when I abandoned the Repub party too.

It was a combination of Reagan tripling the National Debt and the innate unlikeability of Bush Sr. that drove me out of the party.

The Carter administration was for the most part a success:

The deregulation of American business started. It did not start with Reagan nor Ford, Nixon or a previous GOP president.

Under Carter, oil industry deregulation started with the decontrol of oil prices. The decontrol of the beer (yes all those micro brews did not exist before Carter) railroad, trucking, airline and telecommunication systems also started under Carter.

In addition, Carter negotiated the peace treaty with Egypt and Israel, SALT II was signed as well as full relations with China (PRC).

Perception is a funny thing. I found George Bush Sr very likable. He is a good man. Gosh, how ever have the Republicans survived without you? icon_wink.gif

You repubs amaze me with your abitlity to ignore reality and the truth about your Bush's. What does it mean when Bush #1 has been proven to be the author and overseer of the October Surprise to insure that Reagan got elected, do you know what that is? Again, Bush oversaw paying the Iranians to hold the hostages past the election. Now just in case your wondering, by god that does not make him "A GOOD MAN", stop ignoring reality and READ !!

Do a Google search on Robert Perry's research on the OCTOBER SURPRISE, there's plenty of proof that this "BAD MAN" Bush pulled it off to assist Reagans election chances. God you people are unbelievable in your blind partisanship, is there some allergic reaction to the facts?

I might add that the truth came out through a Democratic congressman named Lee Hamilton who assisted Clinton in discovering it. then the Dem favorite Clinton Hid the facts saying "America doesn't need this right now" (a paraphrase) Had Clinton let the truth come out we probably could have avoided the Bush family scourge of Bush number 2.

Let us know what you find from the facts that are available.

Again, Google Robert Perry, investigative reporter on the October Surprise,

Google Lee Hamiltons reasearch on the October Surprise and how Clinton and he decided to cover it up.

Most historians place Carter in the "mid range" of Presidents.. actually they also place HW Bush in the same area. They did their jobs, but they had problems.

The tactic of the right is to bash Carter and ignore the obvious. Pretty typical.
