southbeach trots out this same illogical argument for each election cycle.
"The Democrats haven't given enough civil rights to gays, so abandon them to vote instead for the Republicans, who want to take away the few gay civil rights you already have."
What is even more fantastic about this irrational proposition is that the obstacles the Democrats have faced regarding promoting gay rights have been placed there by the Republicans. So that the Republicans are saying in effect:
"Even though we Republicans made sure the Democrats failed to help you gays enough, we want you to blame them alone for that failure, and reward us instead by voting for our thoroughly anti-gay platforms and proposed legislation."
Because as southbeach refuses to acknowledge, and in fact tells an opposite false story, the Party of No locked down the US Congress for much of Obama's first term. Especially in the Senate where the Dems, aided by 2 Independents, had but 1 month in 2009 when they had a shaky 60-vote supermajority ability to close off Republican filibusters.
Also overlooked in this falsehood is that the fact that Obama Administration has done more for gays and gay civil rights than any other administration in history. Despite overwhelming and united Republican opposition to gay rights, and their perverting the business of the Congress with an extreme right-wing conservative social agenda, when what millions of Americans most need is economic solutions.
