I have started a new job and to go with the new job I thought I'd buy some new shoes.

Well, the shoes I've bought look very butch and go well with my man drag (also known as a suit).

However, they sound really camp. When I'm walking on hard surfaces they go tap tap tap. I rather like them.

Does anyone else wear camp shoes?

hahaha rhythmic walking, bet it sounds delightful.

I have to admit, I love hearing that "tap tap tap" from shoes, it sounds very officish, but, then, I don't work in an office so I don't hear it that often.

They came out the same year the man bag hit the streets.

Man bags. A little bit gay, but also a little bit Italian and let's face it we all like Italians.

One of my pairs of work shoes has a metal heel cap, and it sounds like stilletoes when I walk. It's rather unsettling

I had gay shoes once....it was cuz I had worn the heels down to the wood. Once I was walking down a concourse and around a corner. There were two guys coming around the corner from the other direction. After we had passed, I heard one of the guys say to the other that he thought it was a woman cuz of the clacking of the shoes. I actually liked the noise. It must be my symmetrical hemispheres.

I have a new pair of dress shoes that not only clack on hard surfaces, but are also slip-on, which I normally never wear, and I'm not used to them, so I flop around like Agador Spartacus in "The Birdcage..."

That's it. Surrender your card immediately. J/K!

I have a pair of ankle boots that the husband swears make me sound like a Nazi stormtrooper.

Camp shoes? I must have missed that bulletin. I thought that most dress shoes are pretty loud.

No, there are definitely camp dress shoes.

The only dress shoes I wear are leather and have buckles. Monk straps they are called. I have a hard walk, so definitely notice the tapping and like it icon_smile.gif

Englishman like to wear very pointy shoes and I always find those camp. Which adds to the difficulty in identifying gay boys in this country. Gay? European? They all look the same to me.

Redheadguy you're in one the shoe capitals of the world, the Uk, plus you've mentioned they're Ted Baker. I have a couple of pairs of his shoes... I don't think you have anything to worry about... but if you are worried about the camp factor, nothing that a pair of Prada or Gucci loafers wouldn't erase icon_cool.gif
