It used to be as simple as mailing a resume and cover letter. Now every company, recruiter, etc. requires you to fill out THE SAME information on their website... it's like rewriting your resume over and over and over. Such a time killer.

That's just it. And not even a leech. Most every independently wealthy person I know continues to work. I tried not working for a few years. I'm hating this and now changing my life yet again. The transition period sucks. I know I'm going to hate the application process you're talking about. Haven't done it in more than 20 years but I didn't like it then.

Just goes to show that just about everything comes with some kind of hassle. But then, if it didn't, we wouldn't have anything to bitch about, and what fun is that?

The joy in spending your hard earned money can't be found anywhere else.

I know how that is. Some companies want to know your life history, your resume isn't good enough. Extremely time consuming.

The most annoying thing is when you apply for a lot of retail jobs online, they give you that stupid questionnaire on your attitude towards certain situations. It immediately follows the application and takes a long time to do! It's the same damn questionnaire just about everywhere too.

Im being starkly reminded of what is so nice about living in more laid back countries.. where everything is backwards and still the way it was 60 years ago haha.. I see now why I idealised it so much while I was in the north.. kind of ironic... that everyone here idealises living in the north.. but once we are there we bitch about how much easier it is to enjoy life down here.. awww.. you really do give up one advantage for another

I was (and am) the worst apt person for the job application process. No one ever hired me. Ever. EEEVEEERRR. So I said fuck it and started my own business. NO BOSS FOR ME.

Green- you seem very outgoing and I am sure you're highly employable!

Ariodante - What type of business do you have? I hope it's something artistic/creative!

Online sales - sounds boring, but my particular brand does actually have a, um, creative aspect to it let's say ^_~

My condolences. There is not much I hate with such passion as applying for jobs. Last time I did it was in 2000 and I still shudder when I remember those days. It took me 11 months to find a company to hire me.

Reward yourself for every application you've completed. It is worse than the salt-mines.

It's the most humiliating and depressing thing in the world.
They don't give a damn what your qualifications are.
ALL they're looking for is someone with experience.

If you've had experience doing the same job before, it doesn't matter if you're the least intelligent, least honest, least reliable, and least dependable person on Earth.

After graduating from college (for the 3rd time), I sent out close to 400 resumes, before I simply gave up. I got called in for exactly ONE interview.

^ Right you are webster.. Im also beginning to fear that I am going to have to go back to what I was doing before and during college.. working in tourism and service industry, hotels, restaurants, hosting and such.. because I have too little experience in what I actually want to do and studied for (health and life sciences) and at least five years of service industry experience, with the ability to speak umpteen languages.. that I think is the only chance I have in this market.. im not looking forward to it... cause its a step backward.. but we gotta eat :/

    I'm the same way.

Don't you just love those applications with all those stupid questions about feeling how others feel and if you get mad and how often you get mad and stuff.?
Or have you not run across them.??
