It's not so much Republicans--Democrats have super PACs as well, though they were not as eager to "play ball" as the conservatives seemed to be.

Colbert is attacking an issue larger than just petty partisan politics: Money in government and elections.

I wasn't only referring to the content of the Colbert ad - I was also referring to the way the ad apes the kind of lying scorched earth RABID attack ads the Repubs have a long history of using in the SC primary.

    Believe me I know lol

But I believe this should be a bipartisan issue--I think we will succeed in getting money out of politics much more easily if both sides work together.

Even if we only convince moderate conservatives....

I really hope this is part of the take-down of this SCOTUS decision. Perhaps with a real Constitutional amendment.

You are right !! This may have been the result of Bush's 'Roberts court' but both sides are nearly totally 'bought and paid for'. The public should raise such an uproar over this by demonstrations to bring an end to buying our politicions. Lobbyists should be banned from the halls of congress and be forced to sit in on public comment sessions regarding each and every proposed legislation, rather than having free access to our politicians. If they were only allowed the same amount of time in a comment session as us common citizens and with no money exchanged to the Politicians, then everyone would have the same chance to be heard.

Example: when I was director of a Housing Authority, any rule change that came along from the US Dept of Housing and Urban Dev. and for many a proposed legislation we were given 30 days to send in our comments pro or con as to the affects of the proposed change. So what I am envisioning is Lobbyists being put on the same footing as with a public 30 day comment period for every proposed policy or legislation change, no money changing hands for politicians to benefit from.

Picture a Hearing room where everyone is given equal time to comment, no more direct Corp lobby no more Military equipment suppliers lobbying to support war in a politicians office, no more AIPAC lobby going from congressman to congressman pushing for Israel firster legislation promoting war with Iran. or any other lobby flooding the halls of congress, no more tit for tat, you scratch my back I'll scratch yours, just a set amount of time in a hearing room right along with the US Citizens speaking out about their opinion of any policy change or proposed legislation. Imagine how much more fair a setting it would be for Politicians in making decisions without the influence of Corp and lobby money or threats.

And watch his show all the time and NEVER get the fact that he is lampooning every republican there is out there
