Except as this and other news stories report, the Iowa GOP is calling the result a "split decision" and not declaring either candidate to have won. In other words, they now say it was a tie. Rather embarrassing to the State GOP, I would think, with results still missing.

It gets better. After a wishy-washy declaration as to who actually won, revising the election to a tie after first saying Romney won, the Iowa GOP position NOW is:

Iowa GOP Chairman Matt Strawn says Rick Santorum is the winner of the Iowa Caucus. Period.

After the Republican Party of Iowa released the final certified results Thursday morning with eight missing precincts, Strawn released a statement saying he wanted to congratulate both "Senator Santorum and Governor Romney on a hard-fought effort during the closest contest in caucus history.” The press release specifically did not state a specific winner of the Jan 3. Caucus, rather implying it was a tie.

But this afternoon, Strawn went on WHO Radio in Iowa and announced there should be no “ambiguity,” that Santorum is, in fact, the winner.

"Certified results show Rick Santorum leading or won by 34 votes,” Strawn told Jan Mickelson, noting that he needed to apologize to Santorum for any misunderstanding.

    Yup.

Poor Willard Romney is having one shitty day!

    He's LOST Iowa.

Perry has dropped out and thrown his votes to Gingrich.

Gingrich has surged to a dead heat with Romney in SC.

And both Perry and Palin endorsed Gingrich.

Maybe the clueless Repubs have started to realize what a GODAWFUL candidate Willard Mitt Romeycare is and are turning to Gingrich.

The battle for the Repub nom could drag on and get bloody!
