    Hey guys,

I was wondering, how did you tell your straight roommates that you were gay? How did they take it? Was it more of an issue for you than for them?

    I appreciate your advice icon_smile.gif

No roommate now, but when I had a roommate, this. Except for during the military..I obviously wasn't open about being a homo*sapien.

My straight roommate in college became a best friend. We had to move home for a year when we graduated then decided to move in together again once we had jobs. I told him before we made the final decision. I was wasted and text him. Not the best way to do it but it had to be done and I was too chicken to do it any better.

He took it great. We are still friends and he still wanted to live with me. Now I tell him all my boy troubles. Sometimes he doesn't wanna hear but I tell him anyways icon_biggrin.gif

Every roommate I had in college was generally accepting, if not indifferent. Just sometimes I got the innocently curious remarks (you're cool for a gay dude, do you think I'm cute, etc.), except for the one I suspected of also being gay.

What's comforting was that they were cool with my sexuality before we became roommates - we're good friends to this day.

AMoonHawk saidI had a roommate once long long ago ... he ended up ripping me off, after that, no more roommates, I always rented my own place (unless I had a partner). Oh wait I had a lesbian one way later .. she was cool, but she kept trying to talk me into doing bad things, I didn't stay roommates long with her, oh ya and there was another after her that also turn out to be an ass and ripped me off too. No more roommates after that ... stay away from them ... especially ones that want you to move in because they need someone badly to help them pay rent. ... ya that doesn't answer your question ... sorry.

    ah that stinks! lol

Whatever you do, just be sure to tell him BEFORE you have sex. If he wakes up in your arms the morning after and finds out yer Gay... he may act funny over brunch.
