Opens mid-July at a theater near you.
Personally, I'm anxiously awaiting Grey Gardens.

I've seen it on stage twice, I want to see what Hollywood does to it though. Sometimes Hollywood enhances a story and sometimes not. "Cabaret" and "Rocky Horror Picture Show" were certainly enhanced by Hollywood. I'm not so sure about "Hello Dolly" and "JC Superstar" though. When does it open?

Yes I am an expert shot with an M16/M4, and my M9 pistol. And I can sing and dance along to musicals too!

I agree...Hello Dolly and Jesus Christ Superstar were terrible films made from much better matierlals. Other lame movie versions: Godspell, Hairspray, Mame, Annie, The Producers, and Evita.

But there were other good ones too: Oliver, My Fair Lady, West Side Story, Chicago, and The Music Man.

I agree completely jprichva. We can go see "Mamma Mia"
and deliver our review here on RJ. Ya wanna?

Also, how about a part called, "What would Stalin think?"
Is the film an example of the propaganda of imperialist capitalist pigs or not?

I was fortunate enough to see the show on stage!
Have always been a fan of ABBA !!
No matter what my 'twink' friends laush @ me!
I'm super excited about the movie,
But very worried, some of the magic will be gone!

    STARTS JULY 18th

Crimthann, question, do M4s still have that runaway problem when they get hot?

No offense: I love ABBA, but this musical I wasn't crazy for. Guess what sours my opinion is the fact that when I saw it I saw it in Moscow, performed in Russian. Something, I'm guessing, was lost in translation.

I enjoyed the musical "Mamma Mia" so I am looking forward to the movie version. The plot wasn't particularly deep, but heck any musical with ABBA music in it is alright by me.

If anybody at my High School ever cared to wonder if I was queer (I was nearly invisible there) they would have gotten a big clue when I admitted I loved ABBA songs. From "Waterloo" in 1974 to "AngelEyes" in 1979, I personally think they had the best string of Top 40 pop songs in the 1970s. Mind you they did not have a lot of competition.

I'm seeing it mainly for the ABBA music
who's in it and the storyline are going to be secondary

Down here in Fort Laud I have tkts to see a roadshow
    called "Bjorn Again"
I saw them on an Atlantis cruise last year to Stockholm they were fantastic!
They nearly sold out the local theater down here

Saw the show in Las Vegas, it was good, not as good as Hairspray or Wicked, but nevertheless good. I'd watch the movie, but as you can guess I'm in no hurry.

I saw the show on stage. While I normally love musicals...meh. I really didn't enjoy this one. It's so obvious that they just tried to throw together a plot where they could get away with singing old ABBA songs, which don't even always make sense in context. Not really worth the time, in my opinion.

I never had the desire to see the play in NY in spite of opportunities and the fact that I love (guilty pleasure) love ABBA songs even before Muriels Wedding.

But I'm going to see this!

I have to agree, Yogachris. She really CAN do anything. Even an Australian accent. {"The dingo ate me baby!")

Meryl Streep sings in the hilariously bad number that opens "Death Becomes Her."
