Wouldn't you want to go with a woman? I am sure Newt would be on the prowl for his fourth wife. icon_biggrin.gif

I honestly don't think this has a snowball's chance in HELL of ever happening. I have a feeling that many primaries down the road are going to prove that South Carolina's luck for picking the GOP nominee has come to a screeching halt. I just don't think Gingrich can withstand the huge amount of negativity that will be loaded upon him. If he can, maybe he should be President.

I agree on the South Carolina situation. Republicans such as Sen Coburn have already come out saying they could not support him, and reports are Senators and Congressmen, especially those who worked with him in the 90s, will become more engaged now. Gingrich's one strength is throwing red meat to the base, something Romney doesn't have the temperament to do. Romney also helped Gingrich by inexplicably not having direct answers to basic tax questions, when and how many years. So it drags on a bit more.

In fairness to Newt, he has more than one strength. He's a very smart man, with a breadth of knowledge and experience that is of value. However, I find him a huge sanctimonious hypocrite, so while he may be a smart man and a deft politician, I don't want him to be the President. I could handle V.P. (maybe), but for Newt Gingrich to even utter the words "Family Values" is laughable, and I think this will be his downfall in his effort to win the nomination. I just don't see this happening.

Agree. Not his only strength, but a principal one in the primaries. Many of his ideas are excellent, and some are terrible. Problem is he has no filter between his brain and his mouth, and Santorum's characterization of his leadershop performance in Congress was accurate.

Gingrich shouldn't have a chance in hell of becoming prsident, if his record of immorality, hypocrisy in going after Clinton while he was doing worse and espcecially all the ethics violations and etc. that he racked up as Speaker of the House.

But amongst the more partisan republicans there is a strong belief to forward anyone who can beat Obama, methods, bad records and the vilest of tactics are of no concern to this group.

When asked the question in SC, which candidate can most likely beat Obama, 70% + of respondents Said Gingrich, this opinion seemed to gain traction because of Gingrich debating skills minus any consideration for his record, Winning is the issue with this group.

We will have to see whether or not this trend continues to strengthen and thereby win Gingrich the nomination or not. It very well could and with Israel's Netanyahu's right hand man and financier Adelson primed to write another big check to Gingrich, this formula may very well succeed.

However, on the national scale, when the 'quiet majority' and Democrats are thrown in the mix, I don't think Gingrich will be able to survive by trying to be 'above' his record. Especially if as I hope, Paul runs independent.

The next few months will tell us just how hypocritical the average Republican voter really is, if Gingrich stays on top, that will tell the story.

According to team Gingrich, God blessed King David in spite of his adultery.

So if we end up with President Gingrich, it will obviously be because God has commanded it.

I don’t yet know if I’ll work for the campaign this year, but that has more to do with the CRE market over the last three years than disgust with the candidates. I need to get back out and make some money again.

However, I’ll back the eventually nominee, yes, even Santorum. In fact I’m feeling as OK with Santorum as I do Romney or Gingrich.
