I never go to theaters, so I haven't seen any good recent movies that are in theaters right now, but I have rented a couple good ones on DVD.

    The Debt
    Moneyball
    Beginners
Rise of the Planet of the Apes

As for newly released films, I'm sure there are a ton of good ones out right now. After all, it is Oscar season! Some ones that I hear are good:

    The Descendants
    The Artist
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
    Young Adult
    Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol
    Haywire
    Shame

and of course, Beauty and the Beast 3D rerelease!

I saw the Girl with the Dragon Tatoo, actually. It was long and dull.

'Let Me In', an American/Hollywood remake of the original(and superior) Swedish film, 'Let the Right One In'. But it`s still a pretty good movie for all that.

maybe not the best but the last decent movie I saw was a movie with Michael Pitt, The Dreamers. It was wild sexy and I was waiting to see what would happen.

That one is one of my FAVORITES. I saw both and actually liked the American remake better. I thought it added some plot points that improved the story. The only downside were some over the top special effects - it probably would have worked better with something more subtle.

    My Week with Marilyn.

Run, don't walk to see this movie. So good! Michelle Williams has grown so much as an actress since her Dawson's Creek days.

Really looking forward to seeing this. My favorite recent movie is The Descendants -- really good family drama, with comedic moments

I thought the Descendants was good. It was funny and heartfelt.
If you like old classic movies, then you will like War Horse.
