Does anyone else NOT care about hot guys in shows/movies?

I was looking at the Spartacus clip on the homepage and I tried to find the appeal, and then realized I've never watched a show or gone to see a movie because it had a hot guy in it (like when everyone went to see Thor cuz that guy had one shirtless scene or something). I've never said "Wow X actor is so hot!" and I've never crushed on a celebrity either.

Maybe porn ruined me, because I'll certainly enjoy a hot fully naked man having sex with other men on film. And I enjoy spending time with real men in real life. But actors in films and TV? Pass. Don't have the slightest fleeting interest. Anyone else?

Life spoiled me. Hot guys are fun to watch in porn and IRL, but in the movies they do nothing for me.

Yeah, I don't care either. It's one thing to look at a pic of a hot actor. But to look at a hot actor in a mediocre movie/show for an hour or two.. no thanks.

Don't care about hot actors either, however, I must admit that I enjoy cable-shows that frequently include nudity. It is usually the cherry on top of great stories, great acting and interesting characters. Spartacus is just cherry and that was not enough to keep me interested.

I wouldn't sit through a movie *just* to ogle eye candy - it has to be interesting.

Good-looking actors are just the cherry on top.

I'll admit that a hot guy in a movie or TV series is what would likely drive me to watch it.

BUT, at the same time, a not-so-hot guy can become hot in my eyes because of the brilliance of a movie. I think this happened for me with Ryan Gosling after I saw Half Nelson. Yes, Ryan was very handsome, but seeing him in this movie just made me see him in a totally different light. Same with Emile Hirsch in Into The Wild. I actually never thought much of Chris Pine either until I thoroughly enjoyed his work in the Star Trek movie.

So, I think I have a good balance going icon_razz.gificon_wink.gif

YES! There's hot guys everywhere who cares about a hot movie star.
It's especially a shame that that's all every thread on RJ is about anymore... hot guys. Every thread about some actor i don't know or care about will get hundreds of replies and everyone gossips and argues about who's hot and why they are hottest. Yet no one participates in the fitness forums, and I will get very few replies to a question where I'm looking for serious advice or opinions.
I wish guys on this site were more focused on themselves and fitness in general. If you want to talk about hot celebs, why not go on prezhilton.com.

    sorry to rant.

Re the Spartacus clip, I am fed up of being made to watch the same gratuitous violence clip already.

I digress. I don't think I would ever go to see a movie solely for the eye candy, but it certainly wouldn't hurt.

I tried to watch the firs episode of Spartacus, just because of the half naked men, but couldn't get past the first 10 minutes. that uber slow mo crap is TERRIBLE.

But aside from that, no, don't watch a show/movie to see a guy... though that doesn't stop me from enjoying a good looking guy on a show i like.

Do you really have to call guys Fags around here, just because they get a boner for an actor. No one's calling you a name are they?
How about saying, I never understood Guys who drool over....

Chill out, bud. I call all gays "fags". Lets claim the word for ourselves and stop getting offended by it. You know, like "nigger". icon_biggrin.gif

I think I'm the same. I don't have a crush on any actors. I do have a few crushes on some musicians, but I think that's b/c I love their music SO much. I think it just means that you look for things in a bf beyond looks - the inside parts.

claiming something for ones's self is just a defensive pretense. If someone hurts me I don't hide it and I don't play games to make them think a word doesn't have hurt-potential.

On-topic: Certain super hot guys are a slight bonus to movies but I wouldn't pay anything to see them. A hot guy in a gay role... almost. But the hottest guys are in blockbusters, and blockbusters are almost always painfully stupid. It's so backwards that the most expensive films are the ones I want to murder the most.

P.S. Guys in movies/tv are hotter than porn actors, so it's not exactly an equivalent replacement.

I'll disagree on that, but there's porn and then there's porn. Most all mainstream media men have this certain pretty look, with certain proportions to their face. Even if they're the "rugged actor with 5 o'clock shadow', that prettiness is still there. Of course there is also tons of porn with plastic looking shaved men, but also a lot with real-guy-down-the block hotness you don't see in Hollywood TV or Film.

Because you can't have it both ways at least IMO. Nothing frustrates me more than seeing two black people referring to each other as "nigga"/"nigs"/"nigger", but when a non-black person refers to another black person as the same, even in the most non-offensive way, all hell breaks lose and Jesse Jackson's phone rings off the hook. Attitudes like this only continue to encourage divisiveness between races.

"Fags" has a negative connotation to it, even within the gay community. What's wrong with being respectful to each other and claim "gay" as our own?

When I found out that Hayden Christensen was the new Darth Vadar, i went out and rented his line of work. Nothing really impressed me, but he is an attractive actor.

Don't know if thats what you mean.

But an actor like Michael Fassbender, who I think was awesome as the new Magneto, based on his body of work I wanted to see more of him [no pun intended].

certain actors I view their entire line of work based on their acting prowess.

Ill watch anything with Michael Fassbender, Natalie Portman, to a less degree Tom Cruise, Kerry Washington, Patrick Wilson, Kevin Spacey, Jason Bateman, Morgan Freeman.

I do not like mainstream porn. "Amateur" porn is my favorite. There are 4-5 guys that go to my gym that are in amateur porn and they are super hot in person. What I saw in their porn work is essentially the same as what I see in person.

Ario! *Spirit Hug* A fellow gay man that understands me. I see a hot guy in a movie or TV and think in my mind: I don't understand the appeal to see sexy guys whom you know they are playing a straight character.

If I wanted to get turned on, I'd watch two hot dudes making out, not creepily stare at Chris Hemsworth's body as he smites people with a hammer.

Now if Thor had a sideplot with him falling in love with another attractive male character, then yes I'd want to see it cause then I'd on some level identify with it, sexually. Else-wise, the sexual aspect feels moot, and the only real reason I'd see it would be for nerdy nostalgia.

Whatever, amateur porn has the ugliest guys. The appeal is that it's a brand new, unused actor that you can throw out afterwards, not because they are stunning in any way. There may be a few beautiful gay porn actors, but most of them are uuuugly, just with decent bodies. Hollywood actors have a much larger section of the species to choose from, so it makes sense they are better looking than pornstars.

If they swapped jobs and porn stars were in movies while actors were in porn, I would follow every desire to look at a hot man to porn.
