It would make socializing here in RJ more refine...You dont have to necessarily comment of each picture or profile icon_biggrin.gif

Implementing Ajax on this site would be great Its been years since RJ being static not Dynamic enough.icon_biggrin.gif

It has been suggested often. It is unwanted by people too cowardly to bear seeing quantified perception of how many agree or disagree with them. icon_lol.gif

Yikes, they tried something like that a year or 2 ago, with like-buttons and links to facebook. People (myself included) didn't like to have their posts plastered all over FB, so that functionality lasted less than 2 weeks, I think. Good riddance, from me.

Instead of 'Like'ing someone/something by hitting a link, why don't you just tell that person. You might even make a friend that way.

Does anyone have a clue to what 'facebook' has its fingers in? RJ needs to stay clear of 'facebook" and anything even remotely close to it.

It wouldn't be related to Facebook, it'd simply be a mechanism similar to the one used in Facebook, in no way linked to the site. I think it'd be a great idea. I think something like YouTube's 'vote up / vote down' system would work really well for the message board. The funnier, more agreed-on posts would stick to the tops of threads instead of being buried on page 5.

I think the OP is referring to karma points. It's a pretty common feature in most forum software, as well as popular websites like Reddit, Slashdot, etc.

It is a good idea, but although it is only a somewhat minor change, the tweaks you see in the forums on this site are generally even more minor than that. I get a feeling the site is making money the way the things are and don't really see a need to change that much.
