    I LIVE IN FUCKING TEXAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ahem

I'm alive and well, and it feels SO good to be back online. I had to stay with a friend for the first 4 days I was here since my apartment wasn't ready, and I managed to befriend the only person in Houston without a computer. It's been hard without internet. Man, I've missed you guys so much!

    I FUCKING LIVE IN TEXAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so so happy I finally made it here, it took a lot of work and added a few more gray hairs to my head. I'm still waiting for the overwhelming sense of amazement, but it's not coming. Being here feels so normal, almost like I've been living here for years already, although there are a lot of differences to keep things interesting.

Work is going amazingly, I'm loving every second of it, and have I been having fun down here. I've been here for 3 weeks now and have only spent 2 nights at home. I've been going to all sorts of fashion shows, art shows, gallery openings, etc., meeting lots of people and making some great work contacts. Sorry to all the Texans on here, but I didn't expect the level of culture here that Houston has. It's a pleasant surprise.

So I'm well and good. I love you guys so much, I've missed you all. What's been going on here? Have I missed anything worth mentioning?

Not quite ready to start in on the "howdy"s just yet.

Seriously, though, welcome to the ridiculously large state of Texas.

I used to live in Texas...
    The Dallas area.

I decided there wasn't enough humidity in the summer though and so I moved to the Carolinas. icon_rolleyes.gif

But I do love me sum the beaches!

For the most part. It's been a nightmare setting up my SSN and my internet, tv, electric, etc. Yesterday I was ready to hop a plane back to a country with at least a bit of common sense. icon_wink.gif

Seriously though, all in all it's going great. Once everything is taken care of and I'm all settled in, things will go much more smoothly.

Good Heavens you are alive! Hey welcome back and glad to hear you survived the bus trip from hell.

I figured you were having issues with your internet, you never struck me as the kind of guy who would leave his RJ friends in the lurch.

One of RJ's favourite sons has taken a leave. The one and only Zimster is straight and pregnant supposedly. MunchingZombie might have more information.

So Houston has culture, well that is good to hear, I would hate to think someone as fabulous as you was stuck in a Philistine's paradise.

Cheers and welcome back to the forums. icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks for the revival, Sedative. In honor of Shawn's return, I'll dust off the ol' butterfly.

Shawn...I never gush. It's a personal policy of mine. That said...

I missed you more than I thought I did. icon_razz.gif Now, did you bring Caslon a new leash? I mistook the old one for a cookie and ate it.

Geez, zimster is gone? I'll have to email that bitch and get the goods on that drama.

Surprisingly the bus ride wasn't so bad...remember, she put special handling on my bags so I didn't have to carry them or move them from bus to bus. Life is good when your pretty.

My apartment is far from set up, I still haven't bought any furniture yet, so all I've been living with is my computer and a mattress (hence the reason for going out every night). Sometime this week I'll order some of my furniture and have it delivered on my next day off.

I have another fashion show tonight, so I'm off to get ready. Love you all so much!!!!

    Kisses

Well, I'm glad you're happy, darlin'.

You'll have to exchange "eh?" for "y'all", and I would give you other advice on American English, but that's not what they speak in Texas, so you're on your own.

    Welcome back Shawn.

Make sure to stock up on Wranglers. I noticed they were abundant during one of my first visits to my sister in Austin. Actually, I didn't notice the Wranglers until we got to San Antonio, so maybe it's regional.

Personally, I didn't know they still made Wranglers. Maybe they're just not out here on the West Coast any more.

    Welcome back Shawn...

Now let me see if I understand; are you implying that Houston has more culture than Toronto?

You'll be in big trouble in T.O. if anyone finds out you've said something like that.

Seriously...I had no idea jeans were still made with the waist that high. But on the few authentic cowboys I've come across, it works in a strange way. Yum!

I was thinking that before I even got here. I'm already thinking of weekend trips to New Orleans, Miami, and Las Vegas.

Speaking of which, I may be going to Las Vegas the first week of September to launch the store there. The decision hasn't been made yet so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
