Congratulations. Will you be doing anything that involves near-death experience?

Isn't that rather typical though? No, sky-diving? Parasailing? Cliff diving?

Maybe taking a month and hiking through the Appalachian?

I mean, not saying 30 is old, but I've always figured 30 is a milestone. One of those...do something to commemorate the youthful past, and rush into full adulthood kind of things?

Who says I'm mature enough to say goodbye to my youth?

You may not be. You may just want to be that kind of "peter-pan" guy until you die...but don't you think that's kind of lame?

    On the "peter pan" guy?

You know the guy who wants to stay a boy forever..avoid responsibility, and other stoic notions such as loyalty, compassion, and selflessness.

I mean..that's cool, it's your life...but is that really the story you want people to read?

Wow, time flies. I remember when you were 25 and drawing cartoons to flame people. icon_biggrin.gif

    It seems just like yesterday.

It REALLY does though! I feel like I entered a huge trough during my latter 20s. I definitely made a lot of wrong turns financially and have been in a shit mentality as a result. I hope I can get out of it soon. icon_sad.gif

Oh I think what you think is young is not the same thing as Peter Pan. Someone can embody youth and still be responsible, compassionate, and selfless.

Oh well sure. I don't think anyone really loses that youthful pull..but I do feel there should be a certain level of discipline in place to keep in check the unwarranted behaviors that cross the line into childish and irrationally immature. I know too many men over the age of 30 who still need to grow up.

Anyways, this wasn't really s'pose to become serious...

But you should do something extreme for your day of birth..afterall..you've made it this far and I'm sure you've picked up a plethora of wisdom from your experiences. That's deserving of an intense adrenaline rush, yeah?

As I said in the other turning 30 thread, 30's are WAY BETTER than 20's. 20's, people are still trying to, often times, figure out what direction they want to go and/or working towards getting there. There tends to be more drama in daily life as well. 30's, things seemed to be building a nice foundation to build on and grow....and hopefully less drama. This is not always the case but it is common.

How many people in their 30's do you hear want to relive their 20's? ;)

I hesitate to make this contribution but I am 70 this week - so should I be on here at all?

But just to stay I have loved every decade as it has come along. You cannot alter the passing of the years but you can be joyful that you have reached another milestone and carpe diem - seize the day - it is the only one we have and no regrets about what has gone.

Jake, you'll make it to 30 a full two days before me! I'm thinking of having a funeral-themed party.

As you get older....you will find that you don't care what other people call you. icon_smile.gif

I have a friend that just reveled at turning 50. She told me that she loved it. That the older she gets, the less she cares about what other people think.
