They should have cashed out a long time ago. Their failure to adapt to technological changes is why they're losing market share.

Exactly. It's all about adapting changes to survive. Nokia has to learn from this also.

It's too bad because nothing I've used handles email as well as the BB.

They are hell on the administrative side. Having to have a back-end BES server work between your exchange and the device was murder because BES accounts became corrupted so much and had to be reset often. Also the BES structure allowed you to be taken advantage of on licensing. The costst both for the licensing and administration were way more excessive and it made it effective for our entire corporation to move to exchange based webmail through a "real" smartphone. Our users now use both Android or Apple phones.

A bb Enterprise server isn't free, but it sure worked a bunch better than either my Droid x or Droid Razr. Android is sure nice for everything I don't really need.

    Appriver was my BES host.

No, the biggest reason why is dozens of companies entering the smartphone market, from Apple to Google, Nokia, MS, Sony, Samsung, HTC. etc. When BB was at the top it was really just them alone until the iPhone appeared.
