Maybe you should watch his speech. He clearly makes it known that he is aware the man is gay and presents it in a positive light.

But in your mind this means Christie is an anti-gay bigot, I'm sure.

This is pretty remarkable... add that to his speech that included taking non violent drug users out of the prison system...

He definitely seems to be positioning himself for some form of national office. If the NJ economy and budget does improve significantly by the end of his term... he could be unstoppable (though quite legitimately I do hope he considers some lifestyle changes to ensure he has a long and fruitful life).

Yeah, with a BMI similar to William Taft, he’d do well to take some action including bariatric surgery. It can be done. Huck lost almost a 100 lb.

I agree, however, I find it really strange that someone's sexuality has to be mentioned in a nomination speech. If someone's sexuality is not suppose to matter, why does it have to be mentioned at all?

Awesome! Good for him... I'm impressed with Christie and his ability to stick-it to those in his party who are ignorant bigots. And he doesn't seem to care about how it will affect his political career either.

He still can be quite the bully though.

liberals will find a way to spin this negatively

Christie is doing a great job in Jersey and I would vote for him over any of the clowns running in both parties right now

He's too dense to figure that out. That it was the initiative that counts, not the end result.

Actually, we don't have to. The right is calling it an "affirmative-action" hire; they're proving our point for us. Christie couldn't possibly have picked him because he was qualified. No, no - he was picked because of his skin and who he fucks.

    FR

    • “I am proud to be standing here today to announce two historic nominations to the New Jersey State Supreme Court,” Christie said,
      Symbolism over Substance?
    • why does Chris Christie have to further diminish my respect for him by being such a bean-counter? And why do the beans never take offense at this patronizing bean-counting?
    • “Historic”? Like when Caligula made his horse a Senator?
    • So ... the most important things about these two are that one of them has very dark skin and likes to engage in perverted sexual acts with other men. The other one was born in South Korea.
      Wonderful.
I guess sexual perversion makes one qualified to be a judge ... in New Jersey.
      Yuck.
Conservative tolerance, at its best. I'm sure it's the liberal media's fault, somehow.

If you "got the point" then why did you not acknowledge it and go off implying that I'm "counting my chickens before they are hatched".

Is it that hard for you to acknowledge when a conservative politician does something positive for gay rights?

I should hope I have demonstrated that I am more than willing to praise the doings of when liberal politicians when it is favorable for the gay community.

BTW, Christie defenders - so one pol nominating a man who happens to be gay is PROOF that Republicans aren't homophobic. Fine. What does it mean when the same man wants your civil rights to be decided at the ballot box?

Today New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie called for a ballot measure to decide on same-sex marriage. Christie's statement came during legislative hearings on the issue.

    1. No one said Chris Christie represents everyone in the Republican party.
    2. Chris Christie is in favor of civil unions, not same sex marriage. His position is identical to President Obama's.

So what exactly is your point here?
