Mitt Romney, who had come under pressure, even from supporters like Governor Christie (NJ), has finally caved in and released his tax return for year 2010.

Bowing to increasing political pressure to provide more detail about his vast wealth, the former private equity executive released tax returns indicating he and his wife, Ann, paid an effective tax rate of 13.9 percent in 2010. They expect to pay a 15.4 percent rate when they file their returns for 2011.

Romney's tax rate is below that of most wage-earning Americans because most of his income, as outlined in more than 500 pages of tax documents, flows from capital gains on investments.

Under the U.S. tax code, capital gains are taxed at 15 percent, compared with a top tax rate of 35 percent for wage earners.

    Additionally

Romney advisers stressed that the holdings in the Caymans - along with those in a Swiss bank account that was closed in 2010 after an investment adviser decided it could be politically embarrassing to Romney - were reported on tax returns and were not vehicles to avoid taxes.

They also stressed that Romney, whose holdings are in three blind trusts, makes no decisions as to how his money is invested.

    Amen to this !!!

Hell of it is, changing the Marijuana law would put some major Cheney and Arazona Republican friends and donors in the Private Prison Industry out of business. Oh well, maybe republicans can help their chronies and fill the cell spaces with passage of their legislation against women who abort 'rape'or 'incest' babies. Ya !! that'l work !!!

There's always some privacy invasion law republicans could use to continue our record of High imprisonment rates in the US. The Christian Fundi's could always lobby to bring back the anti sodomy laws. LOL !!! Good Christians in Government will save the day, cut taxes for Romney's ilk, increase poverty and house them in prisons for 'slave' labor jobs making car tags !!!

What a hypocrite! Would love to see your tax returns on "Escort Income" to see how much you actually reported. The man paid $3 million in taxes and gave millions more to charity (a total of $7 million over 2 years) --- I have a feeling that information will help Romney overall far more than it will hurt him. The man is a huge success -- good for him! That should not be held against him --- unless, of course, we're suppose to start hating on people who actually make a success of their lives.

No, actually Romney is the poster child for the rich and successful who not only pay a huge amount of their income in taxes but also contribute massive amounts of their income to help the less fortunate. Mitt Romney pays more in taxes, and contributes more to charities in a single year, than 99% of Americans will make in an entire lifetime. I don't think Romney, or any other successful person, should have to apologize for being successful.

Have you seen my tax returns? No
Am I on trial here or running for POTUS? No

I dont have to reveal my tax returns for your pleasure. And i pay more than my fair share of taxes. In fact, i pay a higher tax rate than Mitt Romney. Unless you have factual evidence, you have no basis for calling me a hypocrite other than conjecture.

Actually, no it wouldn't. It would reduce tax revenue. It would be one 1031 after another until the investor croaks. The property would be placed in a trust and passed on to the heirs.

According to WHO -- The Society for Paid Escorts? icon_lol.gif I'm not judging what you do to make a living -- hey, a guy's gotta do what a guy's gotta do to survive --- but it is laughable that you have the utter gall to criticize someone like Mitt Romney (or anyone else who has a made a huge success of their lives) that they don't pay enough taxes or that they have made their success on the backs of the middle class. It comes off as bitter jealous blather of the less successful.

You have no clue how i make a living. Suffice it to say that money is not a concern for me as i live quite simply (and within my means). My beef with the rich like Romney is they have a multitude of tax accountants at their disposal to beat the system. So they end up paying less than hardworking Americans who cant afford their own staff of tax accountants. Besides, Romney didnt get Rich working hard. He got Rich from destroying peoples lives and taking advantage of an unfair tax system.

They want the IRS to change the line that read 'Miscellaneous Income" to "Miscellaneous Incum". They want a little respect for their 'profession'.

We have a real GOOD clue how you make a living plus that clue makes it REAL easy for the IRS to find you.

To beat what system? They have the accountants/tax attorneys to fully comply with the law. So you don't think this investment stuff we do is a bunch of hard work and with huge risk?

How is it utter gall? Romney is a public figure and so open to anyone's opinions. Obama, for example, gets bashed here regularly.

Tacky remark about catfish's income taxes. You're aware of the RJ TOU which warns against giving out personal info on the site? I've seen before how catfish is bashed and the sly innuendos about his occupation and how he must be avoiding taxes.

Tax avoidance and tax evasion are two entirely different matters in the eyes of the law. We never insinuated tax avoidance.

And if one repeatedly makes tacky comments about hard working American investors not paying their ‘fair share’, you open yourselves to these kind of observations.

And who appointed you hall monitor?

Actually you are pretty clueless. But i always find it interesting how attacks that are fair game in the political spectrum (ie Romneys IRS records) become personal attacks by the opposing side because they have no answer to justify why Mitt only pays 15% tax rate. The average hardworking American pays around 35%. Mitt is the poster child for income inequality and an unfair tax system.
