Hey guys, need some advice. I have been doing free wts then cardio on most days to maintain and keep what muscle I have while trying to decrease my fat gradually. Really concentrating on my diet hard to. My problem is after I train legs I cant do cardio for a couple days, cuz im sore, or my legs havent recovered yet and they give out on me. Even if I decrease the weight it does it. My legs have always grown faster and stronger than my upper body. Should I lay of training legs and start them back up when I lose the weight I want or what?? its very frustrating.

how about you just do as you do normally, just ease up on the cardio the day after the leg workout and intensify the cardio on the other days to compensate.

I don't think you need to lay off training legs...

Legs are mostly combination fibers, which means they use both oxgen (via Kreb Cycle of aerobic respiration) and also sugar (via glycolysis of anaerobic repiration) for energy.

One of the by products of anaerobic repiration is lactic acid, which in theory, contributes to muslce soreness. There is also the micro tears theory to explain post work out muscle soreness, but this has not been proven and recent studies show not likely the case. We do not have an exact answer to explain post work out muscle soreness as it probably is multi factorial.

However, lactic acid is proven to some degree to cause SOME degree of muscle soreness. But lactic acid itself is also a source of energy used by the Kreb Cycle in aerobic respiration. So in therory, increased circulation such as low impact muscular acitivity the next day can remove some build up of lactic acid. I guess you can also aid this process with some massage. But this does not mean a vigours treadmill work out after leg day... Walking alone puts demand on the leg muscles...

You can probalby ask BigJoey concerning this as I am more familair with theories, exercise forms, and rehab, while he has extensive experience with training clients.
