Does verifying your profile make "Realjock" life more grand?

My profile is not verified. I'm wondering what benefits, if any, there are to doing such. Is there really that much more of a comfort level that anyone looking at my profile believes my photos are genuine? Is there some sort of increase in page views, or from Realjock members who are willing to communicate? What are your thoughts on verified members vs. non-verified?

You can vote for MOTD (Man of the Day) if you're verified.

A verified profile has its perks, like being voted MOTD, but it's mostly a guarantee that you're interacting with a real person and not a troll. Though I'm sure there are verified trolls too :-/

it really is more about the other people who have verified themselves, in my opinion. I feel a little more comfortable and trusting towards those who have verified.

Other than that, I feel like, in my case, it's me admitting that I am just mediocre. "Yup, nothing special here. Move on now." icon_confused.gif

Depends on what you consider "grand".

It basically all boils down to the individual and what they are doing here. Lots of people here are unverified and seem to be getting along just fine with others. The only ones who make it difficult for them are the ones who require verified profiles.

I wouldn't say there is any real needed perk to being verified other then having certain people engage with you. Probably the biggest thing anyone here has to worry about is whether or not you have a pic. You seem to have that so anything else is minor since more people here would rather you have a pic and be unverified then be picless/profiless and unverified.

The lesser of two evils I guess.

Thanks guys. So there is some truth in that there are people who are more comfortable with talking to those who have verified profiles vs. non-verified? Is that the case with myself too? Are you fellas passing on my profile because it's not verified? This isn't an attention thing. As my profile states, you either like it or you don't - and I think the interaction I get around here is just great (and thanks to those of you who have been so kind to me). Perhaps it is from the pictures I do have up as mentioned by Guy101. I certainly seem to show enough of myself, verified or not.

Sill, I am rather curious to know that if my profile (or profiles in general) was verified it would mean more people would feel comfortable around me. I don't know why this particular issue seems interesting to me this morning, but it does so I'm talking about it. lol

btw the MOTD thing is a valid perk from being verified. But I don't know how much joy it would bring me in voting for people, and I certainly don't expect to ever BE a MOTD. It's not a personal goal of mine.

If I talk to a hot guy and he's not verified I take it he's fake. I Dont think you'll get a wave of people talking to u because ur verified but it'll help. I would like you'd already have alot of peeps up in ur jock cuz u have shirtless pix and ur hot.

What keeps me from doing it is the want/need for discretion. I have many personal reasons for not being out, and that is my choice. The verification process requires me to have full face pics that cannot be removed. I'm still in the consideration phase of if I'm willing to be okay with that. If I'm talking about it this much it's because I'm probably going to do it, but I also wanted to hear from folks to see if it really benefits me to do so. I guess the question still remains if 'you' (RJers in general) tend to stray away from non-verified members. I get how a verified member is much less likely to be a fake vs. a non-verified member, but do RJers automatically tag a non-verified guy as a fake? It's not an issue of if I give a shit what other people think. It's more of a curiosity about how this place and the people in it tick.

Well, if you read some profiles, guys will specifically say they will only chat with verified profiles. Those are typically guys that have gotten burned by fakes in the past. So if you want to cast a wider net, in terms of meeting guys, then go ahead and get verified. Totally up to you.

Doesn't matter to me. I have met in person, as well as talked to - a number of our guys by phone for four years. I don't even pay attention to whether they're verified or not. My s.o. came from here, and I'm not sure if he's verified (unless I took a minute to look it up). I just don't care. Meeting someone in person is the way to go.......or chatting by phone..........to see if you're on the same wavelength.

I don't really care if someone is verified or not...unless I am chatting with them privately over a course of time and start to question if they are real or not. It's not like someone being verified is any sort of guarantee anyway. I am sure someone can fake a verify too if they wanted to bad enough.

The verification process does require full face pics, yes, but those can be private. There are a lot of headless-but-verified profiles out there.

Being verified brings gay rainbows into your life. You are fulfilled and forever happy.

You also lessen the snipes of the haters here, who use a lack of verification as a basis for ad hominem attacks, when they haven't got a practical basis with which to attack the things you post.

I've noticed some really militant non-verified members over the years. Guys who are all "Yeah well I don't FUCKING need to get verified and if you think I do then FUCK YOU!!". Some don't go that far, but many of the unverified members do have a hostile tone when talking about the subject, almost as if they feel antagonized for not being verified.

I like verified members not because I can tell they're real, but because we have the common interests of 1) not being lazy enough to do it 2) not having issues with doing it. I am the most open book in the world and am completely and 100% comfortable being who I am and relate to other guys who are too.

Troll - a poser who makes fake profiles and also forums on this site mainly for attention whoring. Example: JustThisOnce, BigWhoop, Gamer. Hope this also helps

A troll is someone who posts inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[3] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[4] The noun troll may refer to the provocative message itself, as in: "That was an excellent troll you posted".

Probably the same thing that keeps people from uploading xxx pix, face pix or body pix or any pix at all, from filling out their profiles completely, from adding people to their hotlist/buddylist, to engaging (or not) in any threads, voting or whatever.

They just don't want to and don't feel the need to do it. They don't feel it's necessary for whatever reason they are on here and in reality there's nothing wrong with that thought. Being verified is an option and it seems they opt not to do so. So be it.

It'd be a lot different if it was mandatory to be on the site but since it's not....

As one member here noted above, you can keep your verification pic in the private section, giving you control over who gets to see it. Also, you can adjust your profile settings so that only other RJ members can see your profile. These actions could help to put you at ease a bit with the verification process.

And thanks for the nice photo comments, btw!
