Also reported Romney has a significant lead with moderately conservative Republicans, but Gingrich has a lead among the strongly conservative.

Mitt Romney has jumped back ahead in the fevered Florida Republican Primary race with his support back to where it was before Newt Gingrich’s big win Saturday in South Carolina.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Florida Republican Primary Voters, taken Wednesday night, shows Romney with 39% support to Gingrich’s 31%.

This Florida survey of 750 Likely Republican Primary Voters was conducted on January 25, 2012 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is plus or minus 4 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.

I really don't think it matters if Romney wins Florida. Sheldon Adelson is going to keep fueling Gingrich's campaign. Pre-Citizens United, the primary would probably be all but over, but the fact that one family or one person can fund their own candidate means that past rules don't apply.

Why are you telling us this? Nobody here really cares about the R primary or Willard's new lead besides a very few handful of self-hating gay wingnuts on here.

Are you scared the Rs will be crushed in November if Gingrich is the nominee?

There is much interest as evidenced by the discussion. By the way, after you started mouthing off recently, I asked an RJ member who is an expert on internet practices if he thought you were a fake using someone else's photos. He snooped around and said with almost certainty you were. Verifying is not absolute proof, but given you have already shown the photos, it would be harder to fake, especially with experts who can analyze photoshopped photos. So why not verify yourself and eliminate any doubt?

    A) You're clueless if you think there are just a handful of gay Republicans on here. Granted, there are only a handful who are willing to endure the closed-liberal mind and the lambasting that goes with that like calling us "self hating".

    and...

    B) Yes, many of us are concerned the R's will be crushed in November should Gingrich become the nominee. Gingrich can't win, which is why I suspect he won't even come close to getting the nomination.

I'm not in panic mode --- yet -- but should Gingrich win Florida handily I will be concerned for sure. Though, even if that were to happen, I am pretty confident Romney will bring it back around as the primaries move to the midwest and west

Both can stay pretty close until April when it becomes winner take all. I'm not 'as' concerned because all three can do the job.

Insider Advantage Poll shows Romney with a similar lead in Florida. My opinion, with the anti-administration campaigns planned this fall, Obama will be vulnerable facing Romney, Gingrich, or Santorum. But there would be additional issues to deal with if Gingrich were the nominee. BTW, Rasmussen poll showed except for Paul's supporters, the overwhelming percentage of supporters of the other 3 would support the Republican candidate regardless of who it is.

I am, because only a moderate Romney has a real chance of actually getting elected. Any of the other 3 will likely hand the election to Obama.

Romney has the best chance, but not at all clear at this point regarding the others.

The whole notion of Rick Santorum pitted against Obama in a debate is cringe-inducing and laughable. It would be hard to watch. It's NEVER gonna happen. Newt, if by some wild twist of fate he ends up with the nomination, he will certainly hold his own in a debate, but I think the Obama machine and their billion dollar campaign with roll over him so hard he won't know what hit him. Gingrich is unelectable.

Mr. Romney took some pretty big hits the last wk and 1/2. i'm waiting 2 see if he comes out swinging, or lets the PACs do it. in any case, he should be having a field day w/ Mr. Gingrich's history. wonder why he's not? (or, am i missing someting?)

My only issue with your statement is this: A)

To state that the conservative members on here are the only ones who deal with closed-minded opposition from the opposite political spectrum and then conversely state that all name-calling and less than gentlemanly behavior originates from the liberal side is completely overlooking that it is a two sided issue. To deny that name calling and closed-mindedness occurs on this board from both ends of the political spectrum is closed-minded and name calling in itself.

Both sides contribute to the lack of polite political conversation.

You're missing Romney this week -- he came out swinging in the debate Monday night, and I suspect he'll turn up the heat tonight as well. Romney has also been hitting Gingrich hard on the campaign trail and in interviews all week long. The polls appear to be leaning in Romney's favor, so Gingrich may have his 2nd short-lived lead since this campaign started.

Perhaps, but any nominee would have a machine consisting of the RNC, PACs, super PACs, and I am expecting Obama to be badly battered, and his thin skin will likely aggravate the situation. All that said, I have no problem with people assuming what you state as it will help the Romney campaign.

I personally didn't like Romney in attack mode on Monday. I found that debate cringe-worthy every time he and Newt went at it. I expect Newt to be an attack dog, but Romney just doesn't wear that well -- it doesn't look natural to him -- it makes him seem undignified. I prefer him measured, firm, and Presidential.
