Policy change helps gay couples marry overseas

THE Gillard government will help Australian same-sex couples marry in other countries where gay marriage is legal by issuing them with documents that are currently only available to heterosexual couples.

In several nations that allow gay marriage, including Portugal, Spain, Norway and South Africa, a person must produce a so-called Certificate of No Impediment, which proves that they are at least 18 years old, not already married and that there is no other barrier to the marriage. Attorney-General Nicola Roxon will today announce that from February 1, same-sex couples will be able to apply for the certificates.

''This important change will allow same-sex couples to take part in overseas marriage ceremonies, and be considered married according to the laws of that country,'' Ms Roxon said.

The announcement follows a change of Labor Party policy on the issue at its national conference in December.

Same-sex marriages conducted overseas are not recognised as marriages in Australia, but may be evidence of a de facto relationship for the purposes of federal and state laws.

Australian Marriage Equality convener Alex Greenwich welcomed the news. ''The removal of this mean-spirited policy is an important victory for same-sex couples and supporters of marriage equality,'' he said.

This Welsh born women Gillard, has always been clear and open on one thing she does not support same sex marriage, as it's between one man and one women. Yet a pommie can go to their consulate in Oz and have their relationship formalised, down here in Oz.

Yet I as a True Blue Aussie Poofter; Bona Fide Homosexual, do not feel I am hard done by, as things stand now, in Oz!

I am in a long term commited relationship of over 20 year. We have the right to live love and too be commited safely together in Oz, and no piece of paper can create that!

We don't see ourselves as victims, but truly blessed, because we are, and I'm proud to be a True Blue Aussie poofter who calls Oz home, even the way things stand right now They need to hear more from people like us, who are not out there crying poor, and sighting human rights, when we feel we have all the rights in the world, to love and to be love and too be together safely out in the burbs.

Sure one could claim New Australian people not even born to Oz like Julia get more rights in Oz than I do, a True Blue Aussie Poofter; Bona Fide homosexual; but as truthful as that is, I am not a victim, just because I don't have access to marriage; thats for the heterosexuals, and bisexuals playing straight; albeit I feel we should have Civil Unions. One however may fear this will just create another loophole to abuse our immigration system, and I could not support that. Don't misunderstand one, I do support gay unions, as I'm in one, just not the concept of gay marriage.

Life is Good for us Aussie poofs, in the land of Down Under. But I have also lived in worse times gone by, when it was not safe to be seen as out, or to live openly out in the burbs, as a loving commited homosexual couple, as we do now. I survived the Gay Plague Era, as well the 1990s, noughties, ans now we are in 2012. When so many did no live long enough to enjoy life benefits that I do today; they were gone way to soon. I was out in a time when homosexuality was seen as a mental illness, and homosexuality a crime that you could be jailed for! I was proactive in changing that, and how times have changed, and I am blessed to of lived long enough to of enjoyed them, and to of been loved for so long by one man now; when so many have not.

Nope life is good as an Aussie Poofter the way things stand; I no complain.

Oh then peace on earth and good will to men then. But poor mark confuses my contentment and happiness, with his low self esteem. It's not that one thinks I am better, just not a victom because I don't have access to marriage; I've been blissfully happy without it in my 20+ year relationship, and all my life for that matter; give us Civil Unions, we are not straight we do not need marriage as it's roots are deeply embedded in religion. But is that mark's issues because of his deep embedded hate for religion too. It's just another way to attack it and dismantle religion, in a hope it will prop him up. So really it's not the advancement of homosexuality he has in mind, No his intent is more devious, and destructive to the advancement of us homosexuals, by wanting to attack religion, it's one of the reasons so many religus are fighting to preserve the religus hetrosexual union of marriage, because they know that when people like mark start to rip it apart, they fear where will it all end; so prevention is better than a cure.

Nope I stand by what I said, got nothing to do with being bigger or Better, just happy the way things are; we are not victims of lack of so called human rights, we are free to love and be loved. Yet because mark does not behold those blessings in his life, he needs to bring others down in a hope it will make the poor guy feel better; good to see you two haters have bonded; they start so young now days.

I am blessed to of come out at a time when so many hid away in places like the military, and priesthood, one to make out they are real men and the other to remove ones self from the topic of marriage and children, because the priesthood did not allow it; not much difference between the two. Yet I did not hid in the late 1960's or 70's or 80's when things got really bad for us homosexuals. So I am blessed with the insight of how bloody well off we are today, and I do count my blessings.

Man all I have is bottles of soda Water, you can have one, it's of no issue to me, I have lots more, as I am well known for giving and sharing; just love that word poofter, i own it and it gives one strength, as it's not a word that can or does hurt one; albeit someone just tryed and failedicon_lol.gif Because one is secure in myself and the truth; but hay such things do get to your mate Artie, and how he has cried like a wet cat.

    Don't hug a grudge:

Because grudges wear disguises to appear quite small and harmless.
A grudge wants to belong to you; grudges like to be held; holding a grudge, nursing a grudge.

Grudges especially like people who do not forgive quickly. You know them by their complaining about other people; he will not vote the way I think he should.

Grudges must have angry, hatful thoughts to make them grow. A grudge needs you to agree with it; I'll never forget what he did to me.

When a grudge is Small you can pick it up and put it down. But if you keep it it will only get larger and stronger.

Be quick to forgive, thats been my lession in life.

Don't hug a grudge because a grudge grows ip to be resentment, you can not hold resentment, it holds you. Resentment wants to get even. Resentment mankes you become unfriendly to those you should love; and that what I send to my haters love.

I don't want to marry anyone. I like the idea of civil union. However, that is a personal decision and everyone including LGBT must have the same option in sense of equal rights.

Giving us homosexuals the right to Civil Unions is doing just that; it's impossible to please all the people all the people all the time; thus for progress we must make compromises. The heterosexuals and religus have rights too. Oz being a democracy, the majority must rule; thus Civil Unions will see us move forward and have equality if you do want to make your relationship seen as official; I myself have no need for such frivolity's. Yet those who are one eyed and insisting on nothing less that this thing called gay marriage are not only holding back advancement in Oz, but America too. It's one or the other we can not have it both ways.

One always thought Abbot has always been transparent on the issue of this thing Called gay marriage; why they don'y just call it marriage I'm not sure, but since the name change is already there, we should move forward with civil unions, and as for Amanda Vanstoneicon_lol.gif
