Is it better to spend 20-30 mins running at 0% gradient or spend the same amount of time brisk walking at 12-15% gradient? I'm relatively new to regular fitness so would appreciate any advice, both training and nutrition wise. My main goal is to lose body fat and tone up a bit, not necessarily build bulk. Thanks!

In order for the treadmill to accurately represent actual running, you need to use a 2.5% gradient...Therefore I would never run with a 0% incline. If your looking to lose body fat use an interval setting on the machine imo.

Unless you have a specific goal to be able to run x amount of time or distance- anything that gets your heart rate up is good.

You can run faster and run longer. But, as someone who is running off 70lbs, nothing burns flab (not just calories) better than more incline. IMHO.

Just watch your running at an incline--It can be an injury waiting to happen.
