OK so I finally had my second session w/my ph-ersonal trainer! I love this guy! He took my food diary and did a total analysis and pinpointed the errors I made in bulking me up. He went thru the protein content, carbs, fiber, sugar, sodium etc. Despite the fact that I had upped my diet to @ 2500 calories a day it simply isn't enuf. I need to be about 4000! Believe it or not. The diff now is now I know where I should be selecting those calories...and where they should come from. Be it proteins, carbs etc. he also told me how to break down the labels on packages ala reading thru what the nutrient contents mean vs. servings per package etc......I think this will be a big help! Plus believe it or not I was eating too much fiber w/some fruits and having too much time bween last nighttime meal/shake and morning and/or first meal of the day.
I've decided to have two training sesions a week now. Call me crazy but being in the gym is soooooo much diff than working out at home. PLus the gym we use(his) is reeeeeeeal old school! It's the antithesis of Equinox or NYSC. No one stands around staring, it's not a fashion show or busy! It's barely been painted in the last 20 yrs it seems. Oddly enuf I love it! Never thot I'd hear myself say it but I'm Sooo into it now. Plus it helps that he's really into the idea of helping me doubling my size or getting close to it. No i'll NEVER be a muscle head but I think being bigger is real finally. t this point 160 lbs will make me jump for joy! What the hell happened to me in December when I started this I don't know! lol.
Mainly, it seems, the reason I HAVEN'T gotten that much bigger since Dec. is I was overtraining believe it or not. 5-6 days a week is too much for someone w/my body type. To use analogy, for my body type, it's like overwatering a plant...yeah it's gonna grow but waaaaaaaaaay slower than a plant that's allowed to dry out in b'ween waterings because it's bogged down w/exactly wht it does need. I've also learned this from reading the Ecto bible Scrawy to Brawny, an indispensable guide! Ecto's need more down time so no more than 3 workouts for me a week now! 2 w/him.
I really thot I was gonna hate this but now I'm sooo into it.
Anyway that's the newest w/me on that front...more later!

Hahah buddy I totally agree with you about the whole over training part. I'm a pretty skinny guy and when I do a good work out, I'm sore for days and it leaves me incapable of doing frequent work outs. When I work hard though, my body responds well :P

my trainer is about to put me thru the legs session, and he's a stocky little guy that's never had a problem with bulking up. he writes gym workout programs like they are 'mass produced' for all the public, and i've had to seriuosly modify the content for my body type. i've found i've had more constructive sessions following tips from the guys at this site, and mixing it with the 'generic' program i have been given. i hope to break thu some wieght barriers soon. I have already neared 71kg's, which is a first for me! my goal is to reach 75 kg's before years end.

If your trainer is giving you generic workouts you might want to consider a new trainer.
Some mistakes I was making was eating too much fiber. I need the 4000 calories and 200 gms of protein a day. Getting close. Man am I full alot! :D Also try a protein shake before bed so there's not a ton of time when y're asleep that there's something working for you in there. I hit that mad 10 lb. wall where I couldn't gain anymore and couldn't bulk up before I started w/this trainer. In 3 weeks already things are better since I cut down on the work outs, ate more and started working out at the gym w/heavier weight machines.
    Cheers!
