    Excerpts:

Some of President Barack Obama’s top donors and fundraising bundlers are partners in Amonix Inc., the latest Solyndra-like corporate crash. The company has announced a layoff of 200 workers — two-thirds of its workforce — despite a federal green-technology tax credit of $5.9 million in 2010.
    ...
These three investors have also invested heavily in Obama and other Democrats — and the president’s aides are now trying to minimize the political damage.

According to a database maintained by the Center for Responsive Politics, Doerr has donated $171,900 since 2008. Weiss has donated $26,480 and Westly has donated $181,250. Nearly all of those contributions went to Democrats.

Together, the three have also bundled at least $700,000 for Obama.
    ...
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and other GOP figures are portraying these mutual favors as “crony capitalism,” and the charges are adding up to a real political headache for the administration.

They’re such a headache that the Obama campaign’s first televised issues ad sought to shield the president from the fallout by criticizing its critics.
    ...

Although scandalous, I predict the media will make this a non issue. They are already ignoring it.

So 1 company , 20 companies it will not make a difference. Lets see if it comes up in the Obama Youtube question/answer.

Certainly most of the media will ignore it, but "Fair and Balanced" won't, and that will drag some of the others in because they don't like to be too obvious in their news selection. And of course, much of the media will feature his totally lame excuses that ought to insult the intelligence of anyone above the moron level.

But regardless of the media coverage, it provides rich material for campaign ads and certainly debating points.

How is this in any way desperation? You don't think it's relevant to bring up the horrible spending record of an Administration that seeks to spend even more money?

Given massive give aways to the oil companies largely created by Republicans and Cheney's "Energy Commission", the Republicans' hypocrisy on this issue knows no bounds.

LOL I can see that being an effective response in a debate or ad.

Gonna be a long election season for the GOP if this is the best you can do. Did i hear Laura Ingraham and some other conservative columnists say that the GOP cant beat Obama with Romney. The white flag is coming out awful early.

The other thing to point out is these stories of failure and cronyism do get repetitive, especially reading them as news stories. But they will have much more impact in attack ads and videos.

    Christian,

An amount not taxed is not a "massive give away" by the government.

    Now go back to non-profit-fundraising-land.

This company received a tax credit in much the same way that oil companies do. It's the exact same thing.

Oh, yes. Two instances, both of which are stretch are so damning.

And really, John, why bother trying to align the ads around actual facts when Romney's entire campaign is based on a series of lies and falsehoods?
