Durham NC came out number 1. Something I've been tooting for a while now.

Most of the cities on the list are not surprising, large cities like New York, Miami, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco and five others from California and major university towns like Austin, Ann Arbor, and Durham. What is surprising is to see that Boston is not on the list.

I'm surprised that Portland isn't on that list. We get tons of gays moving here because they say they've heard it's super tolerant. And I've been to Seattle many, many times... and that places doesn't feel anywhere near as tolerant as Portland, or maybe I'm biased.

I would have expected Portland to be on the list. I think of Portland as a large Asheville. It could be Portland lacks the diversity which is the case with Asheville. The mountains of NC did not have slavery so Asheville tends to be far whiter than the rest of the state. They're not only measuring gay tolerance but racial tolerance as well. If you are in Bismark ND the hate crime stat would be very low but then there would be very little diversity.

I guess I missed counted but then again California as 36 million inhabitants, Florida 18 million and NC 9.5 million, so NC has the most cities per capita. Still California ranks highest for state ranking according to this list.

San Fran is pretty fucking INTOERLANT (of people who don't shit on the sidewalk or expose their privates in public).

I lived in Boston quite some time ago and I remember Boston and Cambridge as extremely tolerant but when you leave the core they have these New England rednecks that are very bigoted. I had a a few black friends when I lived there and when we helped a friend move into a house in Medford we thought our black friend was being paranoid when he said people in the neighborhood were giving him dirty looks. The next day she received a call from her landlord asking her if she had a black friend moving in with her.

Yes, that's where it took place.

LOL, I still can't believe Bal'mer is on this list. Of all the places in Maryland? Hell, Annapolis is a hell of a lot more tolerant than B-more despite being a small town.
