Go on, admit it. What's your favorite chick flick?

I may not be a big Sex in the City fan, but give me a sappy, sentimental tear jerker, any ol' time.

Last night, we saw 'Definitely. Maybe.' on DVD. I had very low expectations, and I was only mildly interested because uber man-boy Ryan Reynolds was cast as the male lead. It turned out to be a really sweet film about a recently divorced dad who recounts his past loves for his daughter, who then has to deduce from these tales which past love interest is her mom.

Abigail Breslin (of 'Little Miss Sunshine' fame) plays Reynolds' daughter, Maya, and she has but to give that blue-eyed and pouty look of disappointment to get my waterworks going. Abigail also recently played in the equally sappy (but still sticky sweet) Aaron Eckhart/Catherine Zeta-Jones film, 'No Reservations'. Abigail, of course, steals the show in both films.

I was verklempt, though. Neither Ryan nor Aaron showed much, if any, skin. What's up with that? Barely even a chest hair! C'mon, don't chicks like moobs and butts, too?

Be a man. Admit your secret indulgences.

Aww, I hear ya man. I also squirm quite a bit when old timer Rose drops 'The Heart of the Ocean' into the North Sea.

    OK, here's my other all-time-favorite:

    Love, Actually

That, my friend, is THE quintessential, must-see chick flick.

Steel magnolias is the first to come to mind. Dolly Parton was stellar, and had my favorite line of the whole movie. "Honey, God doesn't care what church you go to, just as long as you go."

Mind you Dolly ranks right up there with Cher, and Tina, in my eyes.

Can't think of any tear jerkers... but I like romantic comedies. The Wedding Planner, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days... hmm... I'll keep thinking.

Ah ha, I forgot about that great one liner. there were so many. Just a great movieicon_smile.gif

Also, "Just Between friends"with Mary Tyler Moore, Christine Lahti and ted Danson, was another good one. Good lesson on forgiveness, with that one, not sure I could have done it.

I can't believe none of the REAL jocks here have admitted their undying love for "The Notebook"! I don't think it's my favorite, but it ranks up there...

I'm sure there are others... I'll have to do some thinking/reflecting/brainstorming. icon_smile.gif

Altough some all time great ones have been mentioned:
"Steel Magnolias", "The notebook" and the recent "Sex and City"(which I loved btw) I would have to vote for "Noting Hill". The whole scene with Julia Roberts declaring her love for Hugh Grant just gets to me everytime...icon_redface.gif

That my friends was my gay moment for the day. I must now go work out and then watch Rambo, one through twenty icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif
